Here we are again with some important highlights:Reward &Recognition, Reward is something given to appreciate employee’s efforts (e.g.employee of the month awards, employee name engraved on small plaque in the hospital lobby, movie ticket and afternoon off etc.). Recognition is acknowledgment of employee effectiveness (e.g.note of thank from one of executives to employee when a goal has been achieved,hand-written thank notes sent to family of individual who has been participating in projects, publicly recognize someone, and just simply round on your staff to say thank you etc,). Did you know that how we show gratitude at work has transformed dramatically over the years? Let's explore this heartwarming history! 🙏✨ 1920s: The emergence of Employee Recognition Programs. Companies like National Cash Register began formal appreciation initiatives, marking the birth of structured workplace gratitude. 1940s-50s: The "Gold Watch Era" begins. Long service awards become popular, showing appreciation through lasting symbols of dedication. 1970s: Employee of the Month programs sweep across America, introducing peer recognition and public appreciation displays. 1990s: The rise of spot bonuses and instant recognition, as companies realize the power of immediate gratitude. 2000s: Digital appreciation platforms emerge, making recognition more accessible and visible across organizations. Today: From virtual kudos to wellness rewards, gratitude has become part of company culture rather than just formal programs. What's your favorite way to show appreciation at work? Share your traditions! ⬇️ #WorkplaceHistory #Gratitude #EmployeeAppreciation #TalentGurus

Arabella Advisors was honored to participate in the recent B Corp Champions Retreat—an invaluable opportunity to not only celebrate the work we and our peers have done over the past decade, but to identify lessons for the next phase in our evolution as a mission-driven organization. After attending the event, our colleagues Sophie Gardner, Andrew Plumley, and Emily Taub walked away with three major takeaways: 1) Regrounding ourselves in our values as a B Corp; 2) The importance of devoting resources to employee wellbeing, both professionally and personally, and 3) How to “walk the walk” of integrating equity and belonging. Even as organizational values shift and the world evolves, maintaining our commitment to these values will always be a priority for us. If you’d like to learn more about these takeaways or are interested in becoming a B Corp yourself, check out our colleagues’ recent blog post reflecting on the event: https://ow.ly/7SlL50Rbmnz.

March 1 is tomorrow! Are you ready to demonstrate meaningful appreciation to employees? Will co-workers show appreciation for each other? If the answer is yes I recommend leaders take note of that and emjoy the win for a moment. It means you are doing a good job building a culture that depends on you but not only you. When I refer to trickle down leadership, employees appreciating each other falls into that. Broadly speaking, “what did you do yesterday that could positively impact how others choose to act today?” BONUS….Did you know March 1 is also National Unplugged Day? Can you honor that and appreciation in a single act? Thinking……. In close, and for our school leaders trying to solve teacher burnout and vacancies: You are not only leading a school. You are also leading a workplace. I can’t help but wonder what principals and administrators will do tomorrow to show appreciation to the teachers they lead? I know many schools have a teacher appreciation week. Regardless, i wouldn’t let this day slip by. It takes little time and effort to tell people who depend on your leadership that you appreciate them. #inspiringhr #hrdonedifferently
