Funding boost to enliven City’s street-based events 🏙️✨🕺 Transport for NSW has announced that City of Wagga Wagga is one of 16 NSW local government areas to receive $500,000 through the Permit/Plug/Play Pilot Program. The funding will be used to streamline the delivery of street-based events by enhancing event infrastructure and reducing operational costs for organisers. This will improve event management processes and support the city's cultural, economic, and social activities. Plans include developing pre-approved Traffic Control Plan templates and installing infrastructure such as retractable road bollards, electrical provisions, and additional lighting. The funds will also support the Festival of W 2025, demonstrating the new processes and infrastructure in action. The project will focus on Baylis Street (Morrow to Fitzmaurice streets), Morrow Street (Baylis to Peter streets), and Burns Way. Let's get the awkwardness out of the way! 👇 👉 No one likes discussing the cost of events when enquiring, why? 👉 It's the balance between the perception, expectation and realisation. Most reputable production companies now have hire systems that calculate to 1p the cost of equipment and staff on each event. They don't pluck a figure out of thin air. But before we get to the point of giving an exact costing, the more experienced of us have an idea of where we expect costs to be with an outline figure. Based on experience and knowledge of what the basic hire costs currently are. My experience with enquiries both on email and in a phone call is, people want answers as quick as possible. Neither side wants to waste each others time. So for events with our 7m and 10m stages we have produced a price guide. To give event organisers a realistic idea of costs. Based on the different type of events we produce. This saves time on both sides, event organisers can then not feel pressured of asking and reacting or feeling embarrassed about this potentially awkward question. I had the opportunity to read the original Finnish Language version and the recently published English copy is updated to current events and just as thought provoking. https://lnkd.in/gx7eq9hG I, like many others, saw the drivers of our happiness or dissatisfaction as being events that corralled social mood. Socionomics disagrees and sees that it is social mood that creates the events. These are often multi-year cycles. My own interpretation is that just as societies look to break away from the past, the past, harking back to traditional ‘values’, grabs our attention; we long for things that were core to the lives of our parents and grandparents. One example of this is the 2012 London Olympics. A time of welcome, of reaching out. Four years later the UK voted to leave the EU, the fear of the ‘other’ overwhelming our openness. Why does Russia repeat, again and again, border expansion? Fear of the other along with a whimsical belief that the world should bow to its power. Markets do the same. House prices, share prices, commodities. Part of Mikko’s thesis dovetails with the works of Robert Prechter and his firm, Elliott Wave International - Global Market Analysts will be joining Mikko in London on April 24th. Are our #festivals in decline? This year Taste of the Danforth and the Just for Laughs festival will not take place due to increasing costs, lack of funding, and fewer volunteers. Festivals are a significant economic driver and central to attracting tourists, creating local pride of place, and supporting artists and local businesses. Is this an opportunity for smaller, emerging festivals to start to grow?
