I do not know what took me so long to watch Amber Cabral's TED Talk. I have had the privilege to partake in talks and trainings that Amber has hosted at multiple organizations, and I've followed her work and read her books. No one has a better way of creating a relatable and approachable way to navigate things like connection with those who are different than we are, belonging, advocacy, and being a good human. Her TED Talk is about 13 minutes long. Take a moment today or tomorrow to watch and take it in, you will be a better friend, neighbor, leader, employee, and human if you do so. https://lnkd.in/erdTWUZu

Sharing with permission. Survivors' voices are the ones who have the lived experience, the on the job training that was never meant to be a job. No amount of school, leadership books, or conferences can lend others to knowing what being a survivor is like and therefore, their voices and presence need to be heard, adhered to, and sought. Is your organization utilizing the true experts to guide your mission? Survivors have been telling us nonexperts to LISTEN yet we still fall back on our own textbook/webinar/conference knowledge. It's time to have a seat at the table reserved for those who have unfortunately walked the walk and not just talked the talk. Law enforcement and NGOs need to have an expert guiding their mission and survivors need to have recognition as the S.M.E.'s that they have become. Only through authentic collaboration with equal voices can we truly combat human trafficking. #SurvivorLeadership #Expertsatthetable
International and national anti-trafficking organizations, such as the National Survivor Network, Survivor Alliance, and Polaris Project, all recognize and advocate for survivor leadership as a best practice. They emphasize that survivor involvement in leadership roles is key to effective anti-trafficking efforts, setting a strong precedent for nonprofits to follow. "When survivors are involved in leadership and decision-making, anti-trafficking organizations are more effective. We understand what real support looks like, what we needed during recovery, and how to make that available to others.” ~ Rachel Thomas, trafficking survivor and co-founder of Ending the Game (Source: Interviews and public speaking engagements) #togetherfreedom #ethical #Survivors #bestpractices #survivorvoices #survivorleadership #EndHumanTrafficking

In a world as diverse as ours, it's crucial to recognize and celebrate the unique perspectives and experiences that each individual brings to the table. Our core values must reflect a commitment to fostering a culture of inclusivity where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their best. Questions to Reflect On: 1. How do you embrace diversity and inclusion in your personal and professional life? 2. What steps can you take to promote diversity and inclusion within your community or organization? 3. How can we leverage our core values to champion diversity and create positive change? Let's embark on this journey together, embracing the richness of diversity and fostering a culture of inclusion in all aspects of our lives. People have different perspectives due to a multitude of factors such as personal experiences, social environmental, culture & beliefs and etc. Encouraging different perspectives is crucial for several reasons: Innovation and Creativity: Diverse perspectives bring a variety of ideas and approaches to problem-solving, leading to innovation and creativity. When people from different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences come together, they can offer unique insights that may not have been considered otherwise. Better Decision Making: When diverse perspectives are taken into account, decision-making tends to be more robust. It helps to identify potential blind spots and biases, leading to more well-rounded and informed decisions. Understanding and Empathy: Exposure to different perspectives fosters understanding and empathy towards others. It helps break down stereotypes and prejudices, promoting a more inclusive and harmonious society. Personal Growth: Engaging with different perspectives challenges our own beliefs and assumptions, fostering personal growth and intellectual development. It encourages critical thinking and a willingness to consider alternative viewpoints. Conflict Resolution: In situations of conflict, understanding different perspectives can facilitate resolution by helping parties empathize with each other's concerns and find common ground. Inclusivity and Representation: Encouraging diverse perspectives ensures that a wide range of voices is heard and represented. This is essential for creating inclusive environments where everyone feels valued and respected. Overall, embracing different perspectives enriches our lives personally, professionally, and socially, ultimately leading to a more vibrant and interconnected world. #perspectives #blindmenandelephant #knowledgesharing #dontjudge #respectandvalue #foodsafety #qaqcmanager

Inspired by my boss and CEO Kyle Arteaga to share my thoughts on the 2024 election: I've cast my ballot for the Harris-Walz ticket in California, using this rare moment to stand for decency, compassion, and a commitment to preserving fundamental rights and freedoms. The technological innovation I'm privileged to support every day is only possible in a country that upholds everyone's equality before the law and isn't beholden to access from a privileged few. The U.S. is the global home of innovation. It is, and must be, the leader in using AI to solve humanity's toughest challenges. I'm confident that Vice President Harris will ensure the U.S. government remains a strong, equitable partner, especially as AI solutions transform civilian government and defense systems. Ultimately, the choice is about who will enter the Oval Office each day and seek to do what is best for the American people, not themselves. We need a president who will make us proud, not embarrassed, and who will champion, not strip away, the rights of women. There will be plenty of content marketing and AI topics to discuss going forward. Still, I'm using my platform, however small it may be, to encourage everyone to elect Vice President Harris. Be sure to vote and create a future we can all be proud of. 🇺🇸 https://iwillvote.com/
Today, I’m sharing why I’m endorsing Kamala Harris for president. As a gay Latin man and father to twin girls, I’m inspired by her vision—not only for the rights of families like mine but for her ability to lead with integrity, representing the values we want our children to look up to. Kamala Harris embodies the leadership we want to represent America at home and on the world stage. Watch my story to learn more. #Kamala2024 #FutureForAll"

It’s simple: If you can’t say you are unapologetically anti-racist, stay away from our youth. So many people are asking, “What can I do about the attacks on DEI and the rollbacks on racial justice?” You can ask your schools what they are doing to commit to DEI and antiracism. What daily practices, procedures, and ways of working are set up to eradicate racism? Neutrality is NOT an option. Neutrality is racist. Let’s discuss today at Embracing Equity’s live webinar. Register here: https://lnkd.in/gZFHXjhm (All who register will be emailed the recording if you can’t join live!)
In striving for a future where every person can live free from discrimination and fear, we cannot be neutral. Centrist, non-racist, race neutral = racist. So how do we take a deliberately anti-racist stance? In this webinar, we'll give and crowdsource real life examples and walk through the dilemmas and opportunities. One thing is clear: Anti-racism necessitates community. We look forward to coming together as a community to "walk the talk" of our anti-racist values. We are grateful for you. 🩷 Register here: https://lnkd.in/gwQbq7KC
