During times of uncertainty it’s common to play it safe. And while this may be the best thing for a business, it isn’t always the case. Strategic investment into the right technology and design can empower a business, putting them closer to their customer or stakeholders, and emphasising trust and loyalty. 📈 A recent article on PRINT on this topic caught our eye. With the title ‘Design can help firms strategically navigate uncertain times’, Lynda Decker writes about the power of design to navigate ups and downs. She writes, “Strategic design emerges as a critical tool for all companies, [...] enabling them to communicate clearly and instill confidence in their clients,” and adds that design principles can emphasise clarity, trust and resilience. 🕯 Lynda shares a view into the psychology of design, highlighting that if something looks good we’re more likely to consider it credible and expert. This harks back to times past, when powerful institutions were those that with their physical structures evoked power, strength and confidence. A tech-savvy team of experts and designers in your corner can elevate your brand and strengthen connections with customers and stakeholders, even during uncertainty. 🌤 #design #collaboration #digitalagency #innovation #businessinsights #growthmindset

Developing a robust design model involves aligning your organization’s structure, processes, and resources with your strategic goals. Here are some key principles to consider: ^^Translate Strategy into Design Principles: Start by defining a set of design principles that guide your organizational model. These principles should be specific and directly related to executing your strategy. These principles serve as objective criteria for designing the operating model, ensuring alignment with your goals. ^^Structure Follows Strategy: Alfred Chandler’s insight still holds true: organizations must evolve their structures to support their strategies. Consider how your design supports growth, diversification, and other avenues (e.g., new products, geographies, customer segments). ^^Balance Integration and Flexibility: Avoid rigid structures that hinder innovation or adaptability. Strive for a balance between integration and flexibility. For example, don’t over-centralize or over-integrate if it doesn’t align with your value creation. ^^Diagnostic Models: Use diagnostic models to assess your current state. Understand where factors like structure, processes, and culture may be out of balance. These models help identify areas for improvement. ^^Transformational Models: Embrace change as a way of life. Shift from static models to flexible ones that adapt to continuous, dynamic changes. Anticipate and proactively adjust your design to stay competitive. #AbdulPrince #Day9ConsistencyChallengeWithPMT #Day9ConsistencyChallengeWithMichaelOfori #GraphicDesign #TuesdayMotivation #Hardwork #GraphicDesigner

💡 Debunking Myths: The Role of Designers in Strategic Decision-Making Today, I came across an article discussing why designers often aren't included at the strategy table in companies. The main arguments were that design isn't realistic and that it doesn't involve analysis. This perspective is not only outdated but also highlights a significant misunderstanding of what design can actually achieve in business. Strategic designers leverage methodologies and tools from design, management, and social sciences to create solutions that are not only innovative but also desirable (human-centered), feasible (technologically and operationally sound), and viable (profitable and sustainable). In other words, we solve complex challenges that benefit both individuals and organizations, bridging the gap between creativity and business impact. It's time to recognize the value that design brings to strategic decision-making and invite more designers to the table. #StrategicDesign #Innovation #BusinessStrategy #DesignThinking

Stop leaving money on the table! Designers typically dedicate years of education and practice to their craft. Unfortunately, this discipline can often be perceived as of lower value than C levels in finance, marketing, product, etc. As a result, it is usually less valued in businesses. Many businesses that 'design' products and services do not employ designers. The result is that design skills are absent in the boardroom and on the ground. What a missed opportunity. Design is an improvement mindset; not all business disciplines can frame and reframe risks and opportunities like the design mindset. If you have design and commercial experience, then even better. Design is not colouring in. Design is a verb. Design is reframing. Design is awareness. Design is action. Design can impact efficiency, reduce costs and improve growth (if you let it). I combine design and commercial thinking to help businesses succeed. I want to widen my network and connect with C-level executives and companies interested in how they can harness design. If you know anyone interested in this - please send them this post or message me. Steve Jobs was renowned for creating some of the most user-friendly and visually appealing technology. Technology that many of us use every day. This is a prime example of this quote in action. Great design goes beyond optics. When I work with my clients on organizational design projects, I help them see beyond what the organization “looks like” to how it functions. All of the moving pieces must be aligned in one direction and work together toward a common goal. A well-designed organization looks great and functions even better, leading to productivity and success. #ChangeManagement #OrganizationalDesign #BusinessConsultant

As the leader of a #designservices firm, do you want to be able to say "no" to clients and projects that don't fit? Do you want higher close rates? Do you want to charge higher prices? Do you want to find and retain the right talent? Of course. A key to all of this is successfully positioning and differentiating your firm. Your goal is not to be all things to all clients, but to successfully specialize. To be the right thing for the right clients. This diagram, which I call "The Sustainable Success Cycle" illustrates how positioning and specialization are at the center of self-reinforcing success. #creativeagency #professionalservices #designfirm #engineeringfirm #productdevelopment #industrialdesign #digitaldesign #innovation #designthinking
