The goal of building 500,000 new chargers by the end of the decade in the US took another step closer in Q2 of 2024. The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation reports that in Q2 approximately 9,000 ports were added, bringing the total publicly available Level 2 or DC charging ports in the US to over 192,000.
