This startup is using AI and computer vision to track food waste in commercial kitchens. Food waste is a growing menace. We are throwing away more food than ever. Wasting all the energy & resources used to grow it. And even process and transport it. Most of the food waste then ends up in landfills. Releasing methane, a greenhouse gas. A lot of this food waste happens in commercial kitchens. Where it’s hard to estimate the precise quantities. These kitchens usually rely on log books. And have manual processes in place. To track food waste. So it’s obviously not reliable. Phood is tackling this problem. It’s using AI & computer vision to tackle that.
