Here’s to all Aviation Maintenance Technicians – the unsung heroes who keep our aircraft flying! ✈ It takes nearly 185,000* maintenance technicians to assure the nation’s aircraft are flight ready. Day-in, day-out, they work tirelessly to assure the airworthiness and safe operation of today’s fleets. Their skills and expertise are indispensable. At VAS we are fortunate to have the best techs and other skilled professionals in the business. Here’s a story about one of them, Senior Director of Engine Asset Management, Desean Palmer, who began his career as an Aviation Maintenance Technician. Desean has been a vital part of the VAS Aero Services maintenance operation for 18 years. He got his start in aviation maintenance at Broward College where he received his Airframe and Powerplant Licenses & Certification, and a degree in Aviation Management. 🛬 What has helped Desean advance his career? Desean credits his rise in the aviation tech ranks to the time management skills, problem solving abilities and overall detailed knowledge like the importance of proper documentation and clear communication that he has learned over the years. What led Desean into a career as an Aviation Maintenance Technician? “At a young age I was always fascinated with airplanes, and how they were able to get off the ground,” Desean notes. “That then sparked my interest in aircraft engines, bringing me to where I am today, leading our engine division. “I love the dynamic environment of the aviation industry, connecting with people on different topics and projects, and the opportunity to brainstorm creative ideas. It’s hugely rewarding,” he adds. 💡 What advice would Desean give someone who is considering becoming an Aviation Maintenance Technician? “Be engaging, apply yourself accordingly and allow yourself to evolve and take in all the knowledge possible. Aviation maintenance is a great career.” For more information about career opportunities at VAS Aero Services, visit us at https://vas.aero/careers *Aeronautical Repair Station Association #VAS #VASAeroServices #VAScareers #AviationMaintenanceTechnicianDay #USM #UsedServiceableMaterial
