  • In the November edition of AviTrader's MRO360° article about when to repair or replace rejected engine parts, Desean Palmer, Senior Director of Material Management explained that "When parts are widely available in the USM market, replacement units may be the best, most cost-effective solution rather than making heavy investments in the repair and incurring long lead-time delays at the shop." ✈️ Click here to read the full article https://lnkd.in/eJPuAz-g #Aviation #Aerospace #AviationDaily #AviationNews #Maintenance #AircraftMaintenance #MRO #AircraftMRO #Airline #Airlines #Aircraft #AviTrader #MRO360 #AviationWeek #AviationWeekNetwork #AircraftEngines #AircraftEngineMaintenance

  • At the recent Airbus Sustainability Conference, VAS CEO Tommy Hughes offered some perspective on how circularity in aviation ✈️ is driving positive change in the aviation aftermarket, such as: 🌱 Greater reliance on Used Serviceable Materials that extend the life of parts, conserving manufacturing tools and materials, and reducing the energy consumption and resulting carbon emissions required for new manufacture 🌱 Recycling programs such as Airbus’s titanium circularity initiative, which has resulted in VAS reclaiming and recycling over 25 tons of Titanium 🌱 Harvesting USM assemblies, parts and components from end-of-life / end-of-service aircraft To learn more about VAS’s role as a global leader in Used Serviceable Material reclamation and redistribution, click here https://lnkd.in/gxf5Nsgq Photo: Airbus Sustainability Conference panel speakers Dominik Wacht, Kahina Oudjehani, ing., M.Sc.A., Brent Webb, and Tommy Hughes #VASAeroServices    #USM   #Sustainability    #AircraftRecycling    #VAS #Airlines

Veterans Day. Remembrance Day. Regardless of terminology from either side of the “pond,” today is a day when we honor those who have chosen the most honorable career – serving their country. Like so many of us, I have people in my family who are military veterans. I have always been in awe of the men and women who have signed up for a job that requires selfless service to millions of people they don’t know, but have vowed to protect. A colleague recently told me a story about a tour guide he knows, named Scott, who works at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. He was leading a group of school children around the memorial and explaining to the youngsters the complexities of the war and the difficulties faced by many of the veterans when they returned home after their service. After Scott’s words to the kids, he noticed an older man, standing alone at the memorial. He was wearing a hat and jacket that clearly identified him as a Vietnam vet. While the children were milling about the memorial wall, Scott approached the veteran to thank him for his service. But he also asked what sort of welcome home the man received when he returned to the U.S. The older gentleman was very hesitant to respond, saying only “not good.” Scott then returned to his youngsters and explained to them that the man he just met deserved something long overdue. Scott then corralled the kids near the lone man, and in unison, said “Thank you.” The emotional impact was what you would expect, from both the veteran and from those nearby visiting the wall. It is never too late to say thank you to a veteran. But it shouldn’t have to take years, much less generations. I want to thank each and every one of our serving service members and our veterans for what they do and have done to serve their country. I am also particularly grateful for the military veterans who have chosen to join Airbus as their next duty station. The experience they bring with them is unrivaled. Their team mindset and mission focus is invaluable. A couple of our U.S. veterans were kind enough to share their thoughts on being a veteran member of Team Airbus. I want to thank them for offering up their personal perspectives for this short video. Their words make me proud to be part of a team that places such high value on military service. #Veterans #CalledToServe #VeteransDay #Army #Navy #Airforce #Marines #SpaceForce #USMC #USAF #Heroes #TeamAirbus US Army US Navy United States Air Force United States Marine Corps

  • This Veteran's Day, VAS salutes our nation’s Veterans and their families, with our deepest thanks and appreciation for their patriotism, their service and their sacrifices to protect our freedom. We especially want to express our gratitude to the many Veterans on the VAS Team who day in and day out show us what devotion to duty and a job well done really mean. Your sacrifice and examples of courage are more appreciated than we can ever fully express. Here’s a story about one of our incredible veterans, VAS associate and US Army National Guard Veteran Darryl Davidson. Sgt. Darryl Davidson, USA, Ret., is one of VAS’s valued, go-to team members. He is known for his commitment to the team he works with and his ability to get the job done. That shouldn’t come as a surprise… Darryl served our country for 17 ½ years between Active Duty and the Army National Guard of Washington and Texas, prior to a medical retirement in 2011. During that time, Darryl was a Cavalry Scout for 6 years and a Combat Medic for nearly 12. As a Medic, he served two combat tours in Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom II & IV), earning him the thanks and appreciation of a grateful country.  So what motivated Darryl to devote himself to the US Army and put himself in harm’s way? “I grew up wanting to be a soldier,” Darryl explains. “My patriotism just got more focused as I got older,” resulting in his enlistment in the Army National Guard. The words Duty, Honor, Country come to mind.  Those traits, common to most every Veteran, are also prized by employers, which led to VAS hiring Darryl in 2021. He now serves as the Facilities Technician for the VAS Kent (WA) warehouse. Pressed to explain his duties, he’ll tell you “The short answer is I fix things. Anything that doesn’t involve aircraft parts is my responsibility: forklifts, light fixtures, label printers, toilets – whatever needs maintenance or repair, that’s me.”  He credits his can-do attitude to his time in the Army where he “learned the importance of being a task-oriented team player, taking direction and putting the mission first.” What message does Darryl have for veterans? “To those who have served and those who are actively serving, there is life after service! It may take a minute, but find what you love to do, get with a good team, and the rest will take care of itself. To the Vets IGY6;” So the moral to this story for any aviation company is clear: Hire a Vet! As VAS Director of Human Resources Austin Bierman says, “Veterans bring so many great attributes to the company. They are mature, with proven skills and valuable experiences; they are disciplined and focused on getting the job done right; and they are team-oriented - they know better than anyone that we succeed together.” We would love to hear from you. Please tell us about a veteran that you appreciate in the comments below.   #VASAeroServices   #ArmyVeterans  #VeteransDay  #HireAVet #VAS
