Today's thought, after several hours spent gathering materials on the value of design systems (again): Too often, we see design systems abandoned or underfunded. While the design system's impact is already admitted, there is a belief that the work on it can just stop without this value to be lost. But here's the kicker: design systems require ONGOING investment. Remember: Abandoning a design system without proper resources is like expecting your main product to thrive on its own. PS: Suggestions for articles, talks, or other materials on the subject are very much appreciated!

#DesignSystems Unfortunately, Design Systems ARE NOT a "set it and forget it" kind of thing... As Varya Stepanova emphasizes in her post earlier: But here's the kicker: design systems require ONGOING investment. Remember: Abandoning a design system without proper resources is like expecting your main product to thrive on its own. #DesignOps #UIUX #UX #UXD #UXDesign #ProductDesign

All knowledge from all fields is knowledge that designers can potentially use. To demonstrate this, think about any concept, model, theory from any field and try to explain why that would never be useful in designing. Design is an integrative, interdisciplinary field.

A great article about "reclaiming of design as a future-oriented practice" makes us think once more about #DesignThinking. I have always been a raving believer of the "Design" discipline. If understood and delivered properly it gives problems a fresh approach. It is sad that this arena is swarming with non-designers who have seen the opportunity and the innovative wisdom in it. Yet, fellow designers tend to alienate themselves from the field. Anyway, for the enthusiasts this is an interesting book review. #design #industrialdesign #designthinking #tasalanmatasarla
