I am joining Waymo! It is a pivotal time for Foundation Models for Embodied AI, and I am excited to put them to work towards safer and smarter autonomous vehicles for everyone. It has been a blast building Google’s robotics research efforts from scratch for the past 8 years, and I am proud to be able to confidently step aside, let the team stand on its own and continue to deliver fantastic research. Looking back, this last batch of awards at ICRA astonishingly brings our team’s award tally to fifteen (!) in just half as many years. Those of you who know me know that I’ve always been a bit of a Waymo superfan, right from my very first autonomous donuts on a Google parking lot more than a decade ago. We have a world-changing opportunity in front of us, and I’m excited to be part of the journey. Fun times ahead! (PS: Drop me a line if this is something that may be of interest to you too!)
Congratulations! That indeed is a world-changing opportunity and it is encouraging to see you putting your expertise and passion to push it further!
That's exciting news! Cars will be the most important robots of the next decade.
Chapeau! Self-driving cars can't come soon enough, and glad to see the cream of crop working on it!
Congratulations on the transition! Your team was always an inspiration for mine at FAIR. Looking forward to seeing your work at Waymo!
May you have continued success at Waymo and enjoy your journey.
Congrats. Can you teach them to turn around on our street?
Congratulations on the new role Vincent Vanhoucke. Thanks for all the great partnership work at Google and best of luck at Waymo … great use of foundation models in embodied AI.
Welcome to Waymo. Looking forward to working with you to scale the Waymo Driver.
Your work got me into building my own Embodied AI pipeline for general purpose robots and a simplistic portfolio website. Congratulations on your switch! Can't wait to see what come out with next.
