🌾 **Exciting Innovations in Sustainable Agriculture!** 🌾 We had an incredible session today at the Grow Asia Digital Learning Series, where top innovators presented groundbreaking solutions to transform agriculture and support smallholder farmers. Here are some key highlights: 1. **Transitory**showcased its AI-driven digital risk platform, which uses blockchain to ensure transparency and minimize risks in sustainability projects. 2. **Thanks Carbon**: introduced their innovative approach to reducing methane emissions in rice paddies through AWD (Alternate Wetting and Drying) and satellite-based monitoring. Their projects in Vietnam and Thailand pave the way for sustainable rice farming. 3. **Rize**: is transforming the rice value chain with tech-enabled agronomy and financial services. Their focus on improving farmer livelihoods while reducing emissions is truly inspiring. 4. **Sagri**: highlighted their use of satellite data for soil analysis and water management, helping farmers optimize agricultural practices and generate carbon credits. Their projects across Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia are making a significant impact. 5. **CarbonFarm**discussed their comprehensive MRV (Measurement, Reporting, Verification) system, which uses satellite data to monitor sustainable practices in rice farming. 🌱 Glad to be part of this event where I joined Andy Hall for overseas work in Vietnam as part of the #Aus4Innovation program! We had the chance to exchange valuable insights based on case studies from Australia and Vietnam. I have shared some lessons we learned from the #PestREADI project on how to better understand the gaps in Agri-Innovation Systems through a rapid diagnostic study to help inform co-design an information sharing platform to promote area-wide IPM. Lots of learning from other case studies presented on how they are ddressing sustainability challenges through institutional innovation by reorganising networks of actors through farmers’ clubs and similar innovation platforms and how digital tools are helping them for exchanging of information. Often context specific innovative strategies to deal with similar and complex challenges we are facing in both countries. Identifying what works and elevating these findings to the policy level can be a powerful tool for building resilient, sustainable agricultural innovation systems.

Iona Thomas hosted positive discussions between AgriZeroNZ and an Innovate UK delegation on how UK & New Zealand innovators can collaborate to accelerate new tools to reduce agricultural emissions. AgriZeroNZ is a world-first partnership between the New Zealand government and major agribusiness companies to rapidly reduce emissions, and the UK delegation gained the benefit of insight from this Kiwi organisation with a global perspective. #Agritech is a rapidly growing sector, and teams from both countries see the efficiency and profitability gains in commercialising new technologies for uptake on-farm. Agritech is one of 5 priority themes in the UK / NZ Science Work Programme, and the UK in New Zealand policy, trade, climate change and science teams have worked for many years in this important cooperation theme, so it's amazing to see promising UK / NZ collaborations start to scale.
