Critical Reflections on the Internationalisation of Higher Education in the Global South (Diverse Perspectives on Creating a Fairer Society) Embarking on a journey to Africa, Southeast Asia, South America and beyond, Critical Reflections on the Internationalisation of Higher Education in the Global South explores how postcolonial structures and global power dynamics are shaping the internationalisation of higher education. Challenging the Eurocentric status quo that has long dominated the discourse on internationalisation, this edited collection goes beyond mere discussions of student mobility to address the multifaceted potential that internationalisation holds, ranging from academic partnerships and collaborative research to scholarly publications. Drawing from case studies across the Global South, contributors interrogate not only conventional paradigms, but also pose vital questions. How can institutions in these regions partake equitably in the global exchange of knowledge? What steps can be taken to foster genuine and balanced collaborations between the Global South and North? As a compelling call to action, this research also examines how internationalisation can be a transformative force for the Sustainable Development Goals, breaking down traditional hierarchies and embracing a decolonised future for higher education. If you are involved in academia, policy-making or are simply curious about the complex features of internationalisation in the Global South, this work is your roadmap to deeper, more critical reflections on the internationalisation of higher education. What an amazing surprise to see the book is now available to pre-order. #internationaleducation #tne #edi #ukeducation #ukuniversities #transationaleducation https://lnkd.in/esEraeQt

Purpose of International Education? 🌍🌎🌏 👉👉👉If you work in international education, this is a post for you.👈👈👈 Two great quotes by Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr. from his keynote at last week’s AIEA - Association of International Education Administrators really resonated. "If you don't have an INTERNATIONAL higher education, I doubt you have Higher Education" "If we had more International Education we would have less war, less strife, less oppression, less destroying of the environment...International Education is vital for ALL people" ⬆️ Higher education isn’t about teaching, researching and learning in solitude within four walls of the Ivory tower. ⬆️ Higher education isn’t about succession of knowledge without taking the context of the world into consideration. ⬆️ Higher education isn’t a pedestal to sit on where one broadcasts in a colonial fashion that their way is the only way. We can do so much more by turning higher education international, least of all to combat ignorance and exploitation. Working in international education offers me the chance to travel, see the world, meet with people from all corners of life. It’s also taught me to demonstrate to others, especially the younger generation, how AWARENESS of our differences can be propelled into better mutual UNDERSTANDING, Thus encouraging ACCEPTANCE of who we are and fostering true INCLUSIVITY. It is a privilege I never take for granted. Fellow educators and education administrators, what does working in international education mean to you? #InternationalEducation #WeekendReflections Thank you Sam Fleischmann for sharing snippets of Dr Chavis Jr. keynote.
