On Zero Emissions Day, H.E. Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, said it is important to realise that the world still has the power of collaboration to combat climate change. H.E. said: "Our nation has embarked on an ambitious strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. This strategy demands action from every sector, every industry, every community." H.E. added: "I encourage everyone to embrace sustainable practices and take proactive steps to enable this change. Choose public transport, reduce your energy consumption, be mindful of your consumption habits and minimise waste – make sustainability an integral part of your daily life. Adopt sustainable lifestyle choices to lower your carbon footprint and also inspire others around you to follow your lead." H.E. concluded by reminding us that sustainability is a shared responsibility, and together, we can build a more sustainable future for all. #MOCCAEUAE #YearofSustainability #TodayforTomorrow #ZeroEmissionsDay

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗢𝗣𝟮𝟵 🌎💭 As the world came together to address the pressing realities of climate change, COP29 Azerbaijan marked an important moment for the travel and tourism industry. Voices from across the globe united to discuss ambitious climate action commitments tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities within the sector, and these commitments signal a new chapter of ambition and accountability for us all. Travalyst was privileged to stand among the voices at COP29, and as we come away with a renewed sense of optimism, we share our reflections on the commitments made within the COP29 Declaration on Enhanced Climate Action in Tourism: 🚃 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼-𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 To achieve the Declaration’s call for effective mitigation measures through promoting low and zero-emissions transportation options, Travalyst would welcome more consistent global tourism emissions data. Alignment of the criteria underpinning CO2e methodology for transport emission calculations at a global level, backed by all relevant stakeholders, could serve as reliable data points globally. The Travalyst coalition has already demonstrated that a collaborative approach to such data is possible at scale, having aligned its partners behind a single method to estimate flight emissions, resulting in this data appearing in over 65 billion flight searches. 👥 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 The Declaration acknowledges that effective climate action requires collaborative efforts at local, national, regional, and global levels. Travalyst echoes this sentiment and advocates for a convergence of frameworks across governments globally. The severity and scale of the challenge we face requires true collective action across private, public and not-for-profit sectors, with a degree of collaboration never before seen. Travalyst is an independently governed not-for-profit answerable solely to the planet, and thus we are uniquely positioned to coordinate system-wide collaboration and catalyse change. 📃𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗴𝗼𝘄 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Travalyst fully supports the more active participation of national governments by endorsing the #GlasgowDeclaration, recalled in the COP29 Declaration as a pivotal Global Climate Action Initiative. Over 850 organisations globally have become signatories and, as a founding signatory, we hope to see that rise. Travalyst stands ready to support the implementation of the COP29 Declaration’s vision. Together, we can ensure that tourism not only adapts to the challenges of climate change but also thrives as a resilient and sustainable force for good. #ChangeTravelForGood #COP29 #Travelandtourism #Travalyst #ClimateAction #TourismDay #ClimateActionTourism

As we continue to strive for more green initiatives to be adopted, individuals travelling via private jet remains a controversial topic. Back in December, COP 24 saw hundreds of world delegates travel by private jet, despite this transport being the most carbon-intensive by a significant amount. Ultimately, our country’s leaders must commit to sustainability practices and show that they are taking climate change seriously, otherwise, widespread adoption of such policies will remain all the more challenging. At MM-Eye we can help you to make greener commitments that can be sustained in the long term, ultimately improving your ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) ratings via bespoke market research - don't hesitate to get in touch today. #Insight #SustainableTravel #PositiveChange #ESG
Why are people still flying to climate conferences by private jet?

Sustainability isn’t a part time thing. Sustainability has to be at the core of the way we approach everything. Inspiration from last year’s edition with Neila Benamara, Head of Programs, B Lab Europe. This is what we want at Climate Change Summit - to change the way we see the challenges we are facing and to change the way business is being made. Key The Economist #SustainabilityWeek conference day 1 takeaway, from expert Marina Dorileo: We’re still a long way off from the finish line in the race to net zero, with the scale of required change at the largest it’s ever been. Different technologies are needed. A net zero world will have a very different configuration, with capital and people needing to migrate to create a more sustainable world. But how do you organize to allow this to happen? Maybe we’re heading for an era of “deglobalization” as a backlash against an inevitable increase in climate refugees.

On #Day10 of COP29 Azerbaijan, discussions spotlighted urban climate action, sustainable transport, and transparency. The MAP Declaration for Resilient and Healthy Cities emphasized inclusive urban planning and climate resilience, but are the commitments enough to drive substantial change? Financing urban climate solutions sparked debate over balancing public and private sector roles to scale impactful initiatives. The Enhanced Action in Tourism Declaration, endorsed by over 50 nations, marked tourism's debut on the COP agenda, aiming for sustainable practices. Can this milestone address systemic challenges or is more transformative action required? Discussions on transparency under the Paris Agreement highlighted expert reviews' importance for accountability. Yet, do current frameworks sufficiently empower experts to ensure meaningful progress?
