Defence tech startup Origin has raised €4 million to advance its precision-guided drone weapon systems, with €2.4M from Change Ventures, support from Silicon Roundabout Ventures, and €1.6M from EU and Latvian grants. This funding enables Origin to grow its engineering and sales teams, accelerating the rollout of its flagship ISR drone, BEAK. Addressing Defence Gaps The Ukraine conflict has highlighted the changing nature of warfare, prompting a re-evaluation of current defence tools. Origin’s BEAK fills critical gaps by offering a cost-effective, reusable, and robust alternative to traditional systems, which are often costly and vulnerable to electronic interference. BEAK: Setting a New Standard BEAK is a man-portable ISR drone featuring AI-driven autonomy and precision guidance that remains effective even under intense jamming, lowering costs per mission by retaining reusable components. This capability, combined with its ease of deployment, makes it a powerful asset for rapid-response defence forces. Agris Kipurs, CEO of Origin, commented: “We’re leveraging a decade of experience in autonomous drones to create an affordable solution that meets modern defence needs.” Andris K. Berzins, Partner at Change Ventures, noted: “I’ve known Agris and Ilya through their successful launch of Airdog. Their expertise and vision made investing in Origin a natural choice.” With significant traction in NATO-aligned regions, Origin is poised to redefine the precision weapons market. https://lnkd.in/fzpnPPW #defensetechnology #drones #innovation #funding #startup #ai #security #autonomoussystems #techforgood #militaryinnovation #investment #defense #aerospace #technology #venturecapital #engineering #innovationinaction #emergingtech #techinnovation #smarttech #advancedtechnology #entrepreneurship #robotics #artificialintelligence #dronetechnology #aerospacedefense
