We hope everyone had a great Earth Week! It’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our beautiful planet, and reflect on the importance of environmental protection.🌿💡 To celebrate, we challenged all of the Exactus Energy team to minimize food waste by adopting zero-waste cooking practices. Here are some strategies we shared: 🍏 Use up ingredients efficiently - boiling vegetable scraps can make a delicious vegetable stock! 🍏 Get creative with leftovers - you’d be surprised at what you can make! 🍏 Minimize packaging waste when possible - bringing your own produce bags when shopping rather than getting plastic ones can make a big difference. Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter, more sustainable world for all. 🌎💚 How did you all celebrate? Comment down below! ⬇️

Today is #EarthDay2024. Earth Day came about to honour and celebrate the amazing planet we call home. We love to recognise this day as a great opportunity to raise awareness, bring about change and create a deeper connection with nature. After all, it’s hard to care about something that you don’t understand which is why we always try to gently inform people about nature and our impact on it (both positive and negative) in our workshops. Honouring and looking after the world around us is baked right in to our ethos at Hedges and Hurdles and we always try to ensure that the way we run our business and workshops are as sustainable as possible. From recycling and reusing equipment whenever possible, down to the active work we do to maintain the local ecosystem through hedgelaying and maintenance. But making an impact doesn’t have to mean completely overhauling your lifestyle (although massive shout out to you if you do), even making small changes to your routine or daily habits can make an impact. Things like: 🍌 Composting food waste ♻️ Reusing or recycling whenever possible 🚲 Swapping at least one car journey a week for walking or cycling 🥩 Going meat free for one day a week 🛒 Avoiding items with unnecessary plastic packaging at the supermarket #EarthDay #TakeAction #Environment #ClimateAction #Sustainability #Nature #Workshops #surreyhillsenterprises #sussexprairies

What is our goal with Reno Earth Day? In 2023, when taking over the event, I was blessed with a large group of people committed to making the annual event its Greenest ever. We had a net zero end goal in mind. That means there is zero waste generated from the event. Although intentions were good, we were met with challenge after challenge. In the end, we ended up with an event filled with plastic cups and generators. So what do we do? If we don’t host this event, someone else will and they will be faced with the challenges we were. Our goal with our 2024 event is simple. Hold the greenest event we can within reason. Then share how we did it with all other events in town. If we can’t make one huge net zero event, let’s make all of the events more sustainable. In the end, the impact will be greater. During the event, all waste, recycle and compost is separated at the trash cans. Once at the dumpsters, everything is weighed and documented. All of this information becomes available post event. In 2023, we diverted more than 50% of the waste collected out of the landfill and to compost and recycle facilities. Our goal in 2024 is 80%. I am confident we will make it. We look forward to sharing Earth Day at beautiful Idlewild Park in just a few short weeks. Brighton Great American Craft Fairs

𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿, 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. * In the last couple of weeks I purchased a hybrid car; * I use public transport where possible * Recycle and re-use * Contribute to Ecologi - where 363 trees have already been planted. But also there are small actions we could all take. Recently at the shared office space I work in, I enquired what happened to the used coffee beans from the coffee machines. They weren't being recycled. They are now! There are a few of us who are using this for our compost! Small things. What are you doing to recyle and look after the planet? #𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 #𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
