👩🏫🌟 GCSE and A-Levels: Connexcel's Katie Nie Tells All👩🏫🌟 As we roll around to the ALL IMPORTANT GCSE and A-Level examinations for a large number of our students this week, we can feel the tension building. Many years of hard work have gone into this journey and this hurdle is just the next in the race. For many of our students, and parents, there are big misconceptions about what the GCSE and A-Level examinations look like, in terms of how long they last, how they are marked and graded, which subjects might have additional components such as coursework or field studies etc. Next Tuesday (7th May)'s webinar aims to combat some of these FAQs, for those who are not yet at this stage in their educational journey and for those who are, gives parents advice on how they can support their students through this time, even at a distance 🌍 With many years of experience now behind us, and many more cohorts to support through their exams, we are so pleased to be able to share our knowledge and support students and parents through this phase. #GCSE #ALevel #examseason #internationaleducation #internationalstudents #studyintheuk #boardingschools #ukschools #independentschools

When I was Head of Department, GCSE results day was one of my favourite days. Weird, huh? Now I believe there is WAY too much pressure on young people to evidence attainment in a qualification that doesn't actually serve them. There are also teachers feeling real anxiety at this time, knowing they'll need to "explain their results". The reason I loved GCSE results day was because I got to feel genuine pride for the students. And our department GCSEs were usually amazing too so I got to feel proud of myself and my team. We need other areas to feel this pride for our students in our education system. We only have one place to feel that collective pride: academic results. It is way too narrow and puts too much pressure on those involved. We have too few KPIs in schools. Let's celebrate academic achievement, but let's also find other areas of success in our education system. #education #teach #teacher #gcse #student #learn

Pupils up and down the country are waiting for their #GCSE results this week. As a teacher, I’ve seen how soul-destroying it is when you open that envelope only to find the grades you worked so hard for didn’t materialise - but it’s important not to be afraid of failing! Having spent my life studying and teaching #history, I’ve seen that progress is more like a tug-of-war than a constant upward march. As a society, there are always forces pulling us backwards as well as forward. It’s the same in our own personal lives. Often, it’s our mistakes which lead us to reevaluate, adapt, and change. Some of history’s greatest thinkers recognised this – the #classic children’s author CS Lewis said that progress “sometimes means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road – in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.” Here at Cardiff & Vale Tutors that’s what we’re all about. If you don’t get the #grades you were hoping for, we can help you get back on the right path so you’re in the strongest position possible to smash your resit exams next November. We have a track record of improving our pupil’s grades and helping them to achieve their potential. Another thing I learned as a #teacher is that there’s no one-size fits all approach - every pupil has different strengths and ways of learning. It’s why we offer tuition in Functional Skills Level 2 qualifications which are GCSE equivalent and recognised by colleges but allow pupils suffering from #anxiety or other obstacles to sit their exams at home without the terror of the exam hall. So, if you or your child didn’t get the right grades this week, please do head over to our website to see how we can help: https://lnkd.in/df6CTKG #results #GCSE #localbusiness #cardiff #resultsday #southwales
