What makes the perfect corporate profile shot... 🧘♀️ The pose: crossed arms, a hand under your chin or calmly placed on your knee (no-one else's) 🧘♂️ The position: a laptop in hand or nearby, or perhaps a pad and pen, either sitting or standing 🕴The outfit: your Monday best suit, tidy hair and those shiny shoes you love but never wear for long ⬜ The background: plainer the better, ideally some lifeless white walls, or go wild and use the office 👩💼 And finally: don't forget to look pensive and professional, directly into the camera, with a small smile Then you can look like absolutely everyone else: shiny, placed and just a tad uncomfortable... OR You could just have some fun and be fabulous, wonderful and unique you! Can you guess what I chose? A branding photoshoot? What for? I’d rather save my $$ . . Well you could. . It was more than just her image; I managed to capture her vibe, her brand essence, and self-confidence in one picture! ( yes, I know, I won’t be humble here 😇 ) Encouraged by this response, she took the leap and did her first branded photoshoot. I had this idea back in the PAD wonder years (People Against Dirty) to do a portrait photo shoot for the whole company - was around 150 people from finance to the factory and it's probably one of my favourite things I ever did. It was originally as part of an employer branding drive, so everyone had great shots they could use on their LinkedIn profiles and build awareness of People Against Dirty (Ecover + Method) blah blah blah... Anyway, I linked up with Sarah Cresswell - a top portrait photographer who has shot for the likes of Vogue and The Times, created some super simple set ups, a direction and then let people's personalities shine. (side note - Sarah led our photography for loads of shoots from product to people, in studios to live events - she's a buddy of mine, so if you need a phenomenal photographer - hit me up for a intro. The shots were amazing but the true acid test was if people used them. Well, this was quite a few years back and many of my old compadres have since moved on from PAD but still use the same headshots - so I feel it was a job well done. It was important to invest in doing this well, in fact little shout out to any PAD pals I still have loads of the shots if you ever need them, let me know. Bonus info - the shots were also great for internal comms, so when we needed to include people in our presentations they had a great library to draw from - no dodgy Facebook profile pics from or awkward selfie-LinkedIn shots, we even printed them out to make office mosaic photo-walls. You know you made it when you saw yourself up in lights. Not a bad looking bunch 😉

Going beyond a headshot... When Lorraine and I were planning her perfect photo shoot, we were not talking about Business Branding. Lorraine booked The 50 Over 50 Amazing Women shoot, for herself and her best friend.
