Innovating Cable Drum Handling: A time to act? We are proud to see the upcoming SuedLink project, a 525 kV HVDC underground cable system, by Prysmian. This milestone underscores the industry's commitment to energy transition and technological advancements. https://lnkd.in/gZvEf-rB However, despite the adoption of automation and Industry 4.0 technologies, the physical handling and management of cable drums have remained largely unchanged for over 90 years. The Lift Inverter Bar is here to revolutionize this aspect. Why the Lift Inverter Bar? * Simplicity: Streamlined design for easier handling. * Operational Efficiency: Reduces the time and effort required for cable drum management. * Safety: Dramatically lowers health and safety risks, reducing insurance premiums. One of our customers noted, "The Lift Inverter Bar has finally given the cable drum industry a much safer and easier way to handle cable drums, which in the past has been time-consuming and hazardous." Serious Question: Are all your cable drums still being lifted and managed using a 90-year-old design? It's time to embrace innovation and make a change. Let's work together to modernize cable drum handling and make the industry safer and more efficient. We invite you to explore how the Lift Inverter Bar can complement your innovative projects and further your commitment to safety and efficiency. Let's work together to bring cable drum handling into the 21st century, ensuring our industry practices are as advanced as the products we create. #cabledrums #OccupationalHealth #logistics #productivity #energy #telecommunications PrysmianGroup
We are proud to announce the upcoming installation of SuedLink project, the 525 kV HVDC underground cable system on a route of 580 km from Wilster in Schleswig-Holstein to the southern connection point at Bergrheinfeld, Bavaria. The installation of the first German HVDC cable project represents a great milestone for Prysmian which carries on its commitment to enable the energy transition at the core of Europe. Stay tuned to discover more in the coming weeks!

On 16.04.2024, 03:42:18 (UTC) there was another split of the commercial Viking Interconnector between the UK and Denmark. This time there was an export from Great Britain. The UK wind farms generated about 13.4 GW at that time and thus had a share of about 55% of the UK's generation, with a load of roughly 24 GW (including exports). Since the failure occurred in the early hours of the morning, the sudden power surplus was, as expected, met with a low load or low flywheel mass at this time of day. The upwards frequency jump was close to 240 mHz, recorded by our Gridradar.net measurement network from a station in London. There were no visible effects in the UCTE network, verified with data from one of our PMUs in Bremen. To our astonishment, we did not see batteries being used to provide negative FCR, so it took more than 2 minutes for the conventional frequency containment reserve to take effect and continuously return the frequency close to the nominal frequency of 50 Hz. Do you perhaps have an idea or an explanation why it took more than two minutes with an overfrequency of > 50.2 Hz to see a downturn in frequency and then another five minutes for the grid frequency to approach the nominal level again?

Navigating an Energy Evolution! As global energy dynamics rapidly transform, the UK is poised to make a game-changing leap forward. The recent recommendation by Ofgem for the approval of two high voltage undersea cable links with Europe is a key milestone in securing the UK's energy future. These links, essential strands in a complex web of international energy cooperation, are not just cables but lifelines, set to bolster the UK's energy resilience and sustainability. With Europe's robust renewable energy infrastructure, these interconnectors facilitate a two-way street of clean electricity, ensuring more consistent and reliable energy supplies whilst supporting our ambitious decarbonisation goals. Europe's wind and solar farms are a renewable powerhouse, and these cables act as tangible connectors to that powerhouse, with the potential to power millions of homes with sustainable energy. It's a fitting endeavour as we continue to champion environmental stewardship and gear up for a greener economy. While these proposals still require a final green light, their significance for the UK's energy network cannot be understated. It speaks volumes about our proactive approach to not just meeting but exceeding our climate targets, and of course, staying plugged into the broader, cleaner energy landscape. #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #Innovation

The first orders of the multi-year framework agreement between TKF and Vattenfall, which was signed last year. Both projects Nordlicht I and Nordlicht II together cover the total supply of approximately 200 km inter-array cables. The scope of supply for TKF covers the cable design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supply and project management of the inter-array cables and corresponding accessories. Special attention is paid to the sustainable design of TKF’s connectivity solution, where TKF plays a leading role. Mats Vikholm, Head of Project Delivery & Engineering for Offshore Wind at Vattenfall, commented: “We are pleased to place our first orders with TKF following the signing of the framework agreement. Working with innovative, sustainable partners is a key component of our strategy at Vattenfall BA Wind for developing our wind farms. In TKF we have found a partner that shares our commitment to sustainability and advancing fossil freedom.” The signing ceremony took place at the TKF booth at WindEnergy Hamburg.
