Social media shouldn’t be the only way that you conduct business. Even if 100% of your sales are coming through it right now, you need to plan for a time when your presence on a platform is removed. My friend Anna was making great money optimising and designing people’s MySpace profiles back in 2008. She was making so much money from it that she quit her job and was coding in HTML full time. That was in August 2008. By May 2009 Facebook had basically turned MySpace into a ghost-town and Anna’s whole business had been wiped out. On digital platforms that you don’t own, you are only ever a minute away from your whole business being ripped away from you - whether it’s by hackers, changes of policy or a bunch of people reporting you because they don’t like you. If you’re currently too dependant on social media for your business, you can try the the following: - Free workshops and seminars for local customers - Free webinars and live videos for those further away - Online courses and communities on Discord and other platforms - Email newsletters that you control yourself There’s plenty of other ways to reach and stay in contact with people. Just make sure that you can keep trading even if your socials are taken away from you.

REAL ESTATE.... FROM CYBERSPACE?!?!? I'm Dan Fradenburgh, and I'm a real estate guy from the internet. I got into real estate after being the technical founder of a CRM agency. That meant that the marketer or entrepreneur had to tell me what they wanted to achieve, and I found some weird way to pull it off. I became popular in that role because after they'd spoken to about a dozen people who said 'That can't be done', they'd ask me and I figure out a way. That's because I didn't go to a community college for a two year diploma in web development and IT... I studied electrical engineering. That earned me the label as a 'full-stack developer' which means that I could program the front-end, back-end, AND run the IT and teams that do the active monitoring. Working with online businesses that do seven figures or more per year (and many of them don't) puts you in the search for bigger and better clients, and that brought me to real estate. But there was a problem... I lived in Taiwan for 15 years. When you're a tech guy from the internet, you take on a few risks, and you REALLY need your team, and you MUST make the jump. So I embarked on a podcast to build a strong network of commercial real estate investors, and built a reputation while rarely doing in-person events. I've been a GP on commercial property, and caution is my middle name. Paranoid might be my first. But tech isn't sexy, so podcasting is how I continue to stay top-of-mind in this circle (but the 'Top Commercial Real Estate Voice' badge I had didn't hurt). Right now, the most fun way that I build our investor base is through CHESS with Investors, as featured on ChessWithInvestors.com , which has already had tens of thousands of views and garnered me about a thousand subs to my YouTube channel in just four months or so! --- But what's with this intro from cyberspace? It's Yonah Weiss' LinkedIn challenge, of course! Glad to (cyber) meet you!

You don't need a lot of clients. Experts who sell premium services (or even products) don’t need a lot of clients. - They need fewer clients. - They need to build higher trust with their prospects. This completely changes how we play the content game. We don’t need to play the 'Justin Welsh' game of publishing generic content, hacking the algorithm, using fancy hooks, and getting more people into the funnel. The success of this funnel is determined by the sheer volume of people you reach. But we don’t want volume. We cannot get away with mediocre trust. It makes more sense to play a different game where you publish nuanced content on social media. This content may not necessarily reach a ton of people, but with whoever it does reach, it creates a deeper relationship. This leads to more conversations through DMs and meaningful comments... the kind of resonance we seek. It’s crucial to align our content game with the business.

6 months of indie hacking - 6 things I learned: Small audience does not mean you cannot succeed with your product. I crossed $1K in sales with Larafast when I just had 400 followers. So, stop blaming your audience count and ship that product! Be honest and authentic in your posts. Being honest and authentic makes people trust you more. If you gain trust, you'll grow your audience faster, people will refer others to you, you will make more friends, and you can sell more. Make friends with your competitors. Competition is always good, especially healthy one. (I referred couple of my customers who didn't liked my product to my competitor, am I dumb? 😁) Ask for help when you need it. People in dev communities are different; they are friendly, willing to help each other, and grow with each other. So don't be shy, ask those questions. Appreciate your audience. It takes nothing from you to reply with a simple "Thank you" to people who are congratulating you on your achievements. Remember where you started. Help others. As @eliasstravik repeats always: Give before ask. Just help others, share their posts, give advices in areas that you are experienced, help those you are just starting with things you learnt already. Bonus point: Have some fun during this journey! 🙌 Is this the place where I should shamelessly plug my product and newsletter? I guess so. larafast.com - Laravel Starter Kit https://lnkd.in/efYDss3B - My Newsletter
