I really wish I could be team UK but kind of agree with Miles. The storytelling skills are way higher in the US. Some see that as just spin but they miss the point of a pitch....to get to the next stage. But it goes deeper. Having worked with investors and startups across the globe there are clear cultural differences. So many US founders are absolutely on their pitch. So polished and sharp on facts and questions. They also live and breath the point of IP. They are ambitious and are often not looking at the exit. They think global DODO. In summary what comes across is that they have real passion. They really want to change the world they really want to conquer the world. They may not literally say they are "Gonna change the world" but you can feel that is clearly their intent. Mike Butcher must be tone deaf! With UK/EU the pitches are adequate mostly in terms of content and general message but you wonder if the CEO will survive first contact.

Nature and nurture. The thing that’s missing here is that the US VCs will back founders with proper capital. Generally EU VCs are in a different league. Hence EU founders have to temper the pitch.

accurate!
