Interesting interview with a MD of Microsoft’s VC arm, M12, about investing in AI startups. Some of the more revealing comments reflect the corporate venture capital view of looking around corners, being close to the ground and similar sentiments, which are a little different than what you would expect to hear from traditional VC firms. #venturecapital #corporateventurecapital #AI https://lnkd.in/gb5PdYqG

The exit strategy is a critical component of any venture capital investment. Traditionally, this phase has relied heavily on human intuition, market knowledge, and negotiation skills. However, the advent of artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming this landscape, enabling VCs to make more data-driven and optimized exit decisions.

Corporate venture is the keystone for the AI Revolution. At our panel on Corporate Venture Capital at The Montgomery Summit 2024, we delved into its pivotal role in shaping the future of AI. The trends are clear: MegaTech companies are leading the charge, with corporate venture arms driving 90% of the capital raised for private generative AI companies in 2023, a significant leap from previous years. In this session our expert panelists including Quentin Hardy (Google Cloud), Erik Bergenholtz (Oracle), Quinn Li (Qualcomm Ventures), Sagi Paz (AMD), Oriona Spaulding (M12, Microsoft's Venture Fund), and Tom Whiteaker (IBM) explored strategic priorities, their visions for the future with AI's impact, investment strategies, and more. Our panelists were in agreement that the future of AI hinges on collaborative efforts between corporations and innovative startups. By harnessing capital, expertise, and strategic partnerships, we can collectively shape an AI ecosystem that benefits businesses and society at large. #montysummit #technology #innovation #tech #generativeAI #AI #CorporateVenture #investing #entrepreneurship #VC https://lnkd.in/gSMvfnTN

How do VCs approach technology themselves? At VESTBERRY's Venture Intelligence Day 2024, our CEO Bastian R. Larsen shared some candid thoughts on how venture capital firms, including BlackWood, are leveraging technology and the challenges we face in truly understanding what drives success. As Bastian R. Larsen mentioned: “Even for those of us who’ve spent years in the field, it may take a decade or more before we truly understand what the ‘secret sauce’ is (...)” This points to the core issue—why are VCs like Atomico investing so heavily in tech teams and data models? The goal is simple: to drive better returns. But the road to understanding how to use AI, data, and minimizing cognitive biases effectively in VC decision-making is still being paved. We’re fortunate to be collaborating with thought leaders and institutions across the board—last year, we interviewed Sam Altman, who is unsurprisingly a strong advocate for AI. We’re also launching a podcast featuring a co-founder of Skype, who has a different perspective—one that’s notably more skeptical about AI’s future. Ultimately, we’re committed to connecting these perspectives and collaborating with research institutions to refine the tools and models that guide our investments, aiming for a fairer and more prosperous tomorrow.

The cycle of the venture capital bubble is approaching terminal velocity at a record pace. In this week's edition of Venture Capital 2.0, I will explain how the venture capital industry utilizes the tactic of "public comps" to project portfolio valuations that justify more and bigger fund vintages and why, fee-starved over the last three years, the Power Law Cartel will lead us into a bubble that could end all bubbles in the AI market if we don't flip the script. Get your popcorn ready! #venturecapital #AI #startups #bubble #ventureinvesting

Unbiased. Transparent. Efficient. Connetic Ventures is an early-stage Venture Capital fund that uses data and technology to remove bias, increase efficiency, and make smarter investments. We have created two pieces of proprietary technology (Wendal and StartupDNA) to automate due diligence and create a fair funding process for all founders. Not only do we update our algorithm monthly, we continuously monitor it for fairness to ensure that every company has an equal shot at funding. 2.5 years ago, we ditched “The Pitch” for good. We believe The Pitch is antiquated and inserts inherent biases into the earliest part of the investing process. This is where Wendal comes in. Wendal is our AI and automated due diligence software. Wendal takes 10-15 minutes to complete and results in us funding women and minority founders at a rate 8x higher than the Venture Capital average. Wendal Connetic Ventures
