I travelled to Split, Croatia for a week to participate in the International Innovations program. This is how it went. The International Innovations program a project of internatinal collaboration to develop and pitch an innovative business idea. Organized by the finnish university Novia University of Applied Sciences, we worked with students from Finnland, Germany, Spain and Croatia. Together with my team, we explored the process of generating ideas, developing them, validating and pivoting, as well as preparing and presenting the idea as a pitch. The pitch was done after 2.5 days of working on the idea. It was done in front of a jury, which then chose the best pitch of all of the groups. Pitching went quite well (for our first time pitching at least), but unfortunatley we weren't able to secure the prize. That's alright though, because it wasn't about winning. It was about exploring entrepreneurship and getting to know other internatinoal students, interested in similar topics. And in that regard, I defenetly won. I had a great time down there. Visiting the countries where you're expanding your business is key to building meaningful connections and understanding the local market. At Canada StartHub we have been expanding our strategies to connect with international entrepreneurs across various countries, and I had the pleasure of being part of this entrepreneurial mission organized by the BCCC Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce and ACATE - Associação Catarinense de Tecnologia (Catarinense Technology Association) in Brazil for the Startup Summit in Florianopolis/ SC. During this incredible event, I had the opportunity to meet with Brazilian leaders and entrepreneurs, and to strengthen partnerships across the innovation ecosystem. One of the highlights was being interviewed by Peter Hawkins, Co-chair of the BCCC, who I admire as a leader and who has been an incredible advocate for more business exchange between the two countries. We had the chance to discuss the challenges and opportunities global leaders face when expanding to new markets.
