I ask this question of my writers more than any other. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 is never critical. It's the most powerful discovery tool in my coaching toolbox. I ask 𝘄𝗵𝘆 so that you go deeper to what you really mean. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 helps get writers unstuck when they've written themselves down a dead-end path. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 helps writers say what they really mean. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 unlocks a new angle for the entire argument. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 can do so much good, especially when you least expect it. --- Yesterday, I asked a writer 𝘄𝗵𝘆 about her new chapter structure. She had been working through a draft that just wasn't landing her argument, so we backed up, and she drew up an outline focused on reader learnings and impact - what did readers need to know and in what order - so that she could make sure she was only including what was needed when it was needed. A compelling new structure emerged that tightened her thesis and made her evidence so much more effective. Asking 𝘄𝗵𝘆 allowed me to push at the edges of it to see how well it held together. At first, the writer worried I wanted her to rearrange something. That I thought something was wrong with her new outline. I reiterated that I simply wanted to hear her 𝘄𝗵𝘆 for why she made her central structural choice - not that there was anything wrong with it. So she told me... Her answer spelled out the clearest argument for not only her chapter, but her book as a whole, that I had heard in our several months working together! 𝗪𝗛𝗬 not only helped her be confident in her new structure, but it helped her give voice to the core argument of her book! --- So let me ask you of your book: 𝗪𝗵𝘆? Want to go deeper? Grab a spot on my schedule before the year is up. Let's go into your 𝗪𝗵𝘆 so you write your amazing book with confidence in 2025! ----- #womenwriters #nonfiction #coaching Hi, I'm Caroline, the book coach and book proposal coach for fabulous women like you. You've been thinking about writing 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 book, and it is finally your moment! 💪

You don't need anyone's 'permission' to write your book. You don't need another qualification or more fancy letters after your name (if any!) You don't need to do another course or another training module. You don't need to seek permission from followers, peers or your mum. You just need to give YOURSELF permission to write it. IMHO, the only prerequisites to writing a book are experience and knowledge. How much experience and how you obtained that knowledge isn't a prohibitive factor. Are there parts of the book that you might need to do further research for? Sure. Could you invite experts to be contributors? Most definitely. But if you have advice and expertise in your niche that others would find helpful and valuable, that's enough. YOU are enough. So stop waiting for permission - whatever that may look like for you. Just write. -------------------------------- 😀 Hi! In my happy place, leading a writing retreat for 20 women in a beautiful place - Taos! - and having endless juicy conversations about writing. In glorious spring weather. One thing I cherish about these retreats is that writers who started a book, got overwhelmed and stopped, come to begin again. Two participants hadn't opened their manuscripts in years. It's so beautiful to watch them bravely venture back in and offer gentle coaching to help them untangle why they might have gotten stuck. This getting stuck writing a book is SO COMMON -- and often so fixable -- but instead of getting the help we need, we start to believe our idea is flawed or we don't have what it takes to write a book. If you're stuck writing your book I'd love to help you get unstuck. I've coached writers for 22 years and written professionally for 34. I'm leading a small group coaching experience that starts May 14th. We'll can get you writing again. DM for details. 😍

My late teens and early twenties were an incredibly hard period of my life. I had no space to dream big. But once I emerged from that hard period, I allowed myself to dream again. I asked myself: What is the biggest life I can imagine? How can I live fully? ✨ I was a young woman on a mission to reclaim the next years of my life. To live them fully, vibrantly, without apology. To take up space. To be seen and heard. The first place I went was inward. After some time, I started to learn to dream again. I got crystal clear on my life vision. Then I translated my vision into action. After years of diligent work (both inner and professional), I was offered a small book deal to share my expertise in book editing. And that book changed absolutely EVERYTHING. It was a catalyst toward the life I have now. It’s been eleven years since my first book was released. Writing that book was such a powerful transformative experience for me, I went on to ghostwrite or coauthor a total of 17 books and contribute to 100-plus. I finished my master’s degree in professional writing and editing. And I wanted to help others have this same powerful experience, so I designed a step-by-step system to help future authors along on their own book-writing journeys. That’s why I’m thrilled to reopen my coaching program, Idea-to-Draft: https://lnkd.in/dhwgpWjY This six-month program includes everything you need to go from idea (or ideas!) to a solid first draft. Plus, it’s rich in community—and you have direct access to me and my team of experts. If you’re ready for that journey, I would be honored to guide you. #bookcoaching #dream #bookwriting #nonfictionbook #business #impact

So excited for Cara's book! I know I'm biased, but I get to work with the 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 writers! Cara asked me to help her map out the proposal for her 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘩 book (yes, she's that awesome!) She's written for academic audiences in the past, but her most recent book rightfully earned her so much love from the general nonfiction audience! Her upcoming book is targeted right at those engaged, smart, curious, general readers. Cara knew generally where her new book idea would go when we started working together, but was still hammering out the core idea, structure, and target reader. As she put it: 💬 "My book literally did not exist outside of my own brain when we started working together. Thanks to Caroline's coaching, I now know exactly what my book will be and I have a clear understanding of how best to sell my idea to others. When I finally pulled all the pieces of the proposal together into the full draft, it was so rewarding to see how our months of work together had brought this brand-new thing into being." 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀, 𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸. From Cara: 💬 "I especially value the way Caroline breaks the process down into manageable pieces. By building my proposal section by section in multiple drafts (so many marketing drafts!), I was able to tackle the unique challenges of each section without getting frustrated or overwhelmed." Once you have a proposal, not only can you begin to pitch your book to agents and publishers, but you can use it as a blueprint to all sorts of other amazing opportunities. I have worked with writers who took the proposal and turned it into the roadmap for their new business venture, or podcast season. Cara is using hers as the groundwork for incredible fellowship opportunities that will further support her as she writes her book to life. I can't wait to read it! Cara Thanks, always, for trusting me to help get your new, fab book moving!!! And, Writers, if you're ready to tackle your book proposal, let me know! DM me today to get started! --- #womenwriters #nonfiction #bookproposal 𝗗𝗠 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿: 📚 Book Coaching & Developmental Editing for 📚 Book Ideas, Book Proposals, Book Manuscripts

Have you seen the strange hashtag, "NaNoWriMo?" Is this a throwback from the "Mork & Mindy" TV show? No (although I have fond memories of Robin Williams). It stands for "National Novel Writing Month." It started in 1999 and happens in November. The goal is to write a 50,000-word novel within one month. You can check it out online but I have added my twist to this annual event. I call November, "National Book Writing Month" with an emphasis on creating your lead-generation book. I'll be covering various topics this month about how you can get started. And of course, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I created a workbook for this very purpose. The link will be in the first comment. Meanwhile, dream big! If you wrote around 1,650 words each day for a month, you would have a 49,500-word manuscript. 1,650 words is the length of a long post. My tip of the day: Review the content you've already created. I bet you have enough to start creating chapters with it. The important part is to first, define what you want to get out of writing a book, then use that as your compass. Happy National Book Writing Month! #bookwriting #leadership #coach

⁉ FAQ Wednesdays.... Starting a new series on Wednesdays that involves answering the most frequently asked questions I get as an author and as a book coach. Going to take this one from a real life client (and several potentials I've talked to over the last 2 weeks). FAQ: How do manage your time writing? Amy the Author Answer: I write best in the morning but I don't write EVERY morning. Truthfully, I'm writing all the time (this post included) but when I'm working on a book, I have to respond to it when I feel the push/pull of my creative energy. Amy the Coach Answer: 1. If you are struggling with discipline, mark off 30 minutes - 1 hour each day to sit down and write. The issue here is actually just starting, then it flows. 2. If you are struggling with creative flow, do something that engages your heart, mind and soul BEFORE you sit down to write (and marking off time is a good idea here too). Meditate/Visualize/Pray/Dance/Scream/Cook/Exercise, etc. Do something other than sit at your computer (like you have been for awhile) and expect the inspiration to be there. I know writers who write every day at the same time. It's sacred for them. That only works for me for a season (I had to do that for my recent book during editing), but the point is to figure out what works. The whole process of writing a book is and can be therapeutic, even if your goals are business focused. And you should have goals - a vision makes all the difference. ************************************************************************** Hi - I'm Amy Vogel, 5x author and Women's book coach. I write nonfiction and fiction in a variety of genres and am using my books to build a launchpad for readers and clients to heal, be empowered to tell their own stories and cast a vision for a better world. If you are unsure what book to write, need support through the process of writing or want assistance to get your unpublished work into the world - use the link below to book a free 30 minute discovery session with me. 😉 https://lnkd.in/g5tkvVEH

Ever Thought About Writing A Book? 🤔💯✍🏼📕🤔💯✍🏼📕🤔💯✍🏼📕 I was asked this same question about 8 years ago and it changed my life! 👊🏼💥 That’s when my book 📕 writing ✍🏼 adventure began. In some ways it feels like a lifetime ago and in other ways it feels like mere moments. I’m proud to say my first book 📖 is coming out soon! It’s called “The F6 Secrets of Relationships: Identifying Ways to Recharge, Restore, and Rescue Deep Connections.” 😁🔥 One of the biggest reasons it has taken so long to complete the book 📕 is because early on I REALLY struggled 😤 to find helpful resources and knowledgeable people who had done it and knew how to help others. I’m here to help with that. The first resource you simply MUST purchase is a 📖 book, “You Must Write a Book: Boost Your Brand, Get More Business, and Become The Go-To Expert.” (https://a.co/d/1MeFbPS) The book 📕 was written by Honorée Corder, who has written 30+ 📚 books. She coaches business professionals, writers, and aspiring non-fiction authors and aids them in publishing their books 📚 to gain best-seller status. 🔥🔥 So if you ever entertained the idea of writing ✍🏼 a 📖 book, you owe it to yourself to have a conversation with Honorée (be sure to mention my name 👍🏼) … you’ll be SO glad you did! 😁 Now go make that dream a reality! 😊🙏🏼 #everthoughtaboutwritingabook #writeabook #getyourmessageout #dontwait #makeithappen #askforhelp #changesomeoneslife #leaveyourmark #honoreecorder #authorcoach #publish #consultant #author #connector #speaker #creative #entrepreneur #contentcreator #storyteller #coach #podcaster #leadership #voiceover #legacy #producer #leader #inspiration #motivation #wednesday #johnhulen

1moLove this! I ask my writers the same question all the time, and they get so into the answer they suddenly realize they've taken their story so many layers deeper than the draft they started with.
