🎶 Exciting News: My Band BYND’s Debut Album is Out! 🎶 After months of hard work, we're thrilled to introduce our debut album Bloom, created with my Bangkok-based band BYND. We’re a group of 4 French musicians who came together in Thailand, jamming on post-rock, jazzy, and psychedelic sounds until we shaped 8 instrumental tracks into something special. You can check it out on Spotify here (it's also on other platforms): https://lnkd.in/gDTPC5ar But today, I wanted to share something deeper. As a co-founder and technical manager of a web agency, I realized how similar the process of creating an album is to launching a startup or software project. Both follow a journey that begins with a simple idea and develops into something much larger. Here are some key parallels I’ve drawn: 🎸 Ideation & Concept: In music, you start with a riff or melody. In software, it’s an idea or a solution to a problem. Both need vision and the ability to piece together abstract parts into a cohesive whole. 🎧 Development: In BYND, we spent countless hours jamming, experimenting, and refining our sound. Similarly, in software development, you prototype, test, and iterate—building on small successes while learning from challenges. 🎛️ Collaboration: Every member of our band brought their own influences and skills, making the final product better. In tech, it’s no different—cross-functional teams with diverse expertise create stronger, more innovative solutions. 🎙️ Execution: We recorded Bloom live at TMM Studios in Bangkok, improvising the structure of our songs. Just like in a startup or project, there’s a point where the concept must be turned into reality—often with tight deadlines and live conditions. 📢 Launch & Marketing: Now comes the fun (and challenge) of sharing it with the world! Whether you’re launching an album or a product, the goal is the same: to reach the right audience, generate interest, and hopefully leave an impact. Marketing, community engagement, and visibility are key. I’m proud of what we’ve created, both as musicians and as professionals. This project taught me that creativity, patience, and teamwork are essential—whether you’re making music or building software. Take a listen, and if you’re working on your own project—be it music or tech—let me know! I’d love to hear how your creative process unfolds.

RIP Steve Albini I was saddened to hear of the death of Steve Albini. For those of you who work in music, you'll know his name. For those who don't, the records he made may well have shaped your lives. Nirvana, Pixies, PJ Harvey amongst many others. Record producers are often mythologised and music recording is a craft which is often surrounded by mystery. But Steve Albini went about recording in a very different way. Here's just a few facts about his work: ✒️ He thought of himself as a recording engineer whose job was to 'capture' a band performance rather than shape a sound. That's why his records sound like actual musicians playing together in a room. ✒️ He wasn't paid on royalties as he thought that was unethical. So for Nirvana's In Utero, he would have been paid a flat rate, even though it sold over 15 million copies. ✒️ He was highly critical of the music industry yet at the same time, probably one of the most revered makers of recorded music. Read his 1993 essay 'The Problem with Music' and you'll see what I mean. 61 is no age for someone who said they would continue making records for as long as they were alive. Let's hope that his philosophy, integrity and technical brilliance live on in his recordings and those who follow in his path. #stevealbini #music #recording #musicindustry #integrity #recordproducers

Rolling Stone: The resurgence of music CDs remind us of an alternative to the deleted decades - lost files and digital ownership due to rapid tech degradation or obsolescence. Plus music CDs can offer a form of generational wealth building (or at least enjoyment sharing) and means to go deeper with music. There's also an affordability factor, especially in the secondhand market.
