A leader’s responsibility is to provide an opportunity for everyone to contribute to the overall vision and direction of the team. It doesn’t matter the size and scale of their contribution just as long as they contribute. When a person can see and identify their part, you’ll see the size and scale of their contribution increase. Where people are appreciated and valued, they’ll do more, because they see and feel what they already know to be true. Lead out front with both word and deed.

My company doesn't need me as much as I thought. And I'm not as happy about it as I expected. Here's the thing– Minuttia's been moving in this direction for months now: - Systemizing most of our operations - Building the first team of senior team leaders - Working on our talent density and investing in our team So I thought I'd be elated to get here. Instead? I feel a little lost and a little uncertain. Of course, I couldn’t be more proud of our team. They’ve done an amazing job stepping up to the plate. But back when they were still gaining: - Experience - Confidence - And expertise… …they needed me to put out fires. Sure, it happened more often than I would've liked… But truthfully, a small part of me was always glad. It made me feel important. But after taking a week off this quarter, I can see clearly: I may cause harm by trying to stay involved. I'm missing too much context to be helpful or effective. And I want our team members to shine by developing extreme ownership in their positions. So, what’s my role nowadays? - Guiding Minuttia’s long-term vision - Innovating and making sure we’re not left behind - Coaching my senior team members and helping them find the right answers themselves The change is intimidating yet exciting. Intimidating because, well, I built this company. Exciting because it doesn’t need me as much as I thought it would. I can’t tell you what will come next. But when I look back and realize how far we’ve come in 4 short years— I can tell you I’m looking forward to finding out.

Big visions inspire people, until... …you ask them to make it happen. Then the team get anxious and overwhelmed. On the flip side… No one wants to do meaningless work. The answer is to tightly couple the work to the vision. But how? First paint the vision and then 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 do this: 1️⃣ Carve out the first 3 small wins (steps). 2️⃣ Make an execution plan for each 3️⃣ Assign clear responsibilities to each person on the team. That accountability matters for where our family business currently is, as well as how we can aggressively grow it to where our team has envisioned it going. For our team this means that we can’t blame others; we have to consistently, test, test, and retest. Learn additional skillsets, apply them, while also using our current skills to bring in outside revenue streams to reinvest into the vision. Because no one is coming to save us, simply the work is far from finished, there is more to do. The beauty of all the perseverance, is the purpose that is developed. And the excitement to go into battle everyday with your team!
