Machine Maker’s Post

India and the UK have signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) to collaborate on the design and development of electric propulsion systems for the Indian Navy. The agreement, signed during the third joint working group meeting of the Electric Propulsion Capability Partnership in Portsmouth, UK, highlights a shared commitment to co-design, co-create, and co-produce advanced propulsion systems for future naval ships, including Landing Platform Docks (LPDs) planned for construction at an Indian shipyard. This partnership is a significant step in advancing the Indian Navy's efforts to adopt electric propulsion technology, which promises enhanced efficiency and reduced environmental impact. It also aligns with India’s focus on fostering indigenous development of niche defense technologies, strengthening its defense industrial base. The SoI was signed by Joint Secretary (Naval Systems) Rajeev Prakash from India and Rear Admiral Steve McCarthy, Director of Ships Operations and Capability Integration in the UK’s Ministry of Defence. This collaboration shows the growing defense technology ties between #India and the #UK, with a focus on innovation and strengthening bilateral relations.
