Tata Steel has made history by launching India’s first all-women shift at its Noamundi Iron Mine. Women will handle key #mining operations, including Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM) and shift supervision, showcasing their skills in traditionally male-dominated roles. This initiative, supported by the government’s 2019 policy enabling women in mining shifts, was inaugurated by Shri Shyam Sundar Prasad, Dy. Director General, Mines Safety, and highlights Tata Steel’s leadership in fostering gender diversity and inclusion. The success stems from programs like “Tejaswini,” which trains local women to operate HEMM, and its later iterations that expanded opportunities. In 2023, Tata Steel also inducted transgender HEMM operators, underscoring its commitment to #equality. India has nearly doubled its #renewable energy capacity addition to 15 GW during April-November 2024, compared to 7.54 GW last year, showcasing rapid progress towards achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, highlighted this milestone at the CII International Energy Conference & Exhibition 2024, attributing the success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary leadership.
