Air India Limited is reportedly set to enhance its fleet by ordering 85 Airbus Aircraft, including 75 A320-family jets for short- to medium-haul flights and 10 A350 long-haul aircraft. This latest order follows last year's massive $70 billion acquisition of 470 jets, which included 34 A350-1000s, 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, and 140 Airbus A320neos. While Airbus has confirmed an unnamed customer for this order, sources indicate that Air India is the buyer. Experts anticipate further orders from Air India, potentially with Boeing, as the airline continues its transformation journey. Today's Manufacturing Must-Reads! Airbus has shortlisted eight locations in India to build its single-engine H125 helicopters. This will be the first private sector civil #helicopter assembly line in the country. The final location will be announced soon, with groundbreaking expected by the end of the year. Airbus and TATA Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) will initially produce ten helicopters annually, scaling up with demand. The H125 helicopters, currently made in #France, the #US, and #Brazil, will also be exported to South Asia. This project supports the "Make in India" initiative and follows Airbus's collaboration with TASL on a ₹21,935-crore project for the Indian Air Force. The first H125s from the Indian facility are expected in 2026. Major components will be assembled by TASL, with Airbus providing support and training. #GE #Aerospace plans to increase #sourcing of components from India India is among the fastest-growing civil #aviation markets globally, with domestic airlines expanding their fleets. However, the global supply chain for #aerospace remains challenging. GE Aerospace also has an equal joint venture with #Safran #AircraftEngines called #CFM makes the LEAP engines, which also power many narrow-body planes in India. Currently, around 1,300 engines of GE Aerospace and CFM are used in various planes of Indian airlines. It is going to take at least another two years before the supply chain gets better.
