Boulevard Magazine Bruichladdich Distillery reimagines a greener future for a historic Scottish island: In the Scottish island of Islay, Bruichladdich Distillery Company Ltd. Distillery has been a beacon of the community for centuries. This remains as true as it was years ago. It connects Islay’s past to its present in many ways – employing much of the original 19th-century machinery it first had when it began in 1881 while simultaneously retrofitting greener solutions for a more sustainable future. As far as distilleries go, it’s become a centre of innovation in the whisky region. After all, it’s the first Scotch whisky and gin distillery in Europe to receive B Corp certification. This year, the brand retained the title once more. B Corp-certified companies are held to the highest standards for social and environmental performance. When Bruichladdich Distillery first obtained the recognition, it garnered an Impact Score of 83.2 points. Now, it has reached the three-digit mark. #sustainability #whisky #innovation #privateclients #privatewealth #dram #whiskylover #sustainablebusiness #sustainabilityleaders #luxury #ceo Megan Croall Anastasiya Lifshyts Ashley MacGregor Amy Brownlee Lynsey Forrest Emma Crawford https://lnkd.in/gMvncYUr MAXMEDIALAB

Check out the video to hear all about this first release in the new five year series.
Maker's Mark Distillery makes one thing, a wheated bourbon whiskey. In 2019 they introduced their 'Wood Finishing Series' as part of a five year plan to finish fully matured Maker's with various wood staves. That phase wrapped up last year and they have just kicked off the next five years with the launch of 'The Heart Release'. The new series focuses on the distillery team behind Maker’s. This first release was created from brainstorming sessions with team members as they described aromas and flavors they experience throughout their day. The result is a bourbon that delivers chocolate, maple and caramel. Watch the video to hear from Beth Buckner and J. Blake Layfield, Ph.D. and learn how they developed this newest bourbon with Heart. #Bourbon #Wheat #WoodFinishingSeries Maker's Mark Distillery Beam Suntory Visit Bardstown Rob Samuels Suntory Global Spirits

I'd like this to be true. I've seen mixed data on this. You need to have a really efficient system setup for this to become worth it. Retrieving, cleaning, and preparing used wine bottles is itself very energy intensive. The easiest and best first step is just lighter bottles. But if we can get those efficient systems in place to reuse, great.
A wine bottle is a single-use item. It doesn't have to be this way. Stratus Vineyards and Circulr have partnered up to test the refill and reuse of wine bottles. There is an immense amount of energy spent to produce and fill a bottle, it only makes sense to refill them. According to Tyler De Sousa at Circulr, "Once the label's off, the hard part is done." HT to Dean Stoyka at Stratus Vineyards and Tyler De Sousa at Circulr and their respective teams for this initiative. HT Kate Bueckert at CBC for the article. Hope to see this at the LCBO soon. #circulareconomy

Kingsbarns Distillery and Visitor Centre is making significant strides in boosting its output and reducing its environmental impact. Recently, it installed a new 20,000-litre washback, leading to a more than 40% increase in distillation output. Additionally, it is currently developing a heat recovery system to cut energy use. But that's not all - the distillery is also working on a large-scale warehousing complex in Glenrothes to store even more spirit each year and keep up with the growing demand for their Lowland single malts. It's great to see a company taking steps toward sustainability while expanding its business. #brokerofchoice #whisky #whiskyinsurance #distillery #distilleryinsurance #scotch #scotchwhisky #KingsbarnsDistillery #Sustainability #WhiskyIndustry #LowlandSingleMalts
