Lovely to see our incredible St Vincent's Newcastle centre featured in BBC News this week! Due to increased demand, the centre will be expanding its low cost food and clothing market into a five days per week service! Used by about 250 people, Vinnies' Pop-Up Market offers a range of foods as well as hygiene products, baby food, household items and clothes. I believe that's what Hannibal said on the A-Team, Right?! 😎 I am so deeply proud to see this come to fruition and to be a part of this mission....addressing and getting after food insecurity in America! And to have these two power houses at the helm, John E. Michel and Chef Lasse sorensen is nothing short of incredible to be around and watch in action. John and I just got back from a whirlwind, 36-hour trip to Shreveport, LA, where we introduced the Currency of Caring to the community and the 2d Bomb Wing (Barksdale AFB). To say it was a success would be an understatement. We now have our second, highly motivated community, wanting to do good within their community along with supporting food insecurity within the military. Scott AFB was our first base along with much of the community in the STL Metro Area. John and I couldn't be happier. We also nailed down our first two restaurants who want to be a part of the ecosystem. Please take a moment to read more about Food is Love and the Currency of Caring via the links below. We hate throwing food away. But America throws A LOT away: 88 million tons in 2022 (548 lbs per person). That is equivalent to 1,000,000 Boeing 737s and nearly 40% of total food production.
