We are delighted to be offering so many exciting Forums in the second half of 2024 - registration for all are now open!! The latest to open is our Forum in Paris in partnership with ELRIGfr - Association d’experts pour la robotique de laboratoire 'Drug Discovery in Paris - Single Cell Genomics' - 3 December Institut Imagine Register now https://lnkd.in/enEA8GuS 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 The human body is composed of trillions of cells containing nearly identical genomes. However, the myriad of controlling factors that govern genomic regulation mean they can take on unique and distinct states and roles. Abnormalities in the genomes or the factors that control their behaviour can result in heterogeneity of cell populations and contribute to disease states. The maturation of single-cell technologies is making it increasingly possible to interrogate this heterogeneity and tease apart the resulting molecular mechanisms that drive disease phenotypes. This Forum will explore the latest research enabling single-cell genomics technologies and the impacts they are contributing in our understanding and treatment of disease. 📢 Webinar #NSFA : Innovative Technologies to Investigate Atherosclerosis 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶 𝟮𝟲 𝗷𝘂𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗮̀ 𝟭𝟳𝗵𝟯𝟬 👀 The new multi-omics approaches enable us to gather a considerable amount of information, particularly in the field of cardiometabolic diseases. Technologies currently in full expansion include single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics and proteomics studies. However, it is always difficult, particularly with this type of approach, to import these new technologies into one's laboratory, with questions such as the origin of the samples to be processed, whether they come from studies carried out on animals or humans, for example, and the sample preservation protocol, whether fresh, fixed or frozen. These are all questions that the experts we have invited to this webinar on new technologies in the study of cardiometabolic diseases will endeavor to answer. They will seek to highlight the advantages of one technology over another, what questions these technologies can answer, but also what questions they cannot answer, what their limitations are. Inscription gratuite mais obligatoire. 👇 https://lnkd.in/eXCBHtVG - - Benoit Pourcet Menno de Winther @Isabel Goncalves Sikander Hayat Bart Staels European Atherosclerosis Society

We've cured cancer hundreds of times (in mice). Our computational models accurately classifies diseases in all of our datasets. We have characterized disorders down to the gene, down the the allele, down to the single base modification. Never before have we had so much knowledge at our disposal. So why isn't all of this being used in clinics already? Join us at BIG24 for an Alumni Talk session titled: When Will my Work "Translate" into Healthcare?, led by UBC Genome Science & Technology graduate, Dr. Zeid Hamadeh, PhD. The discussion will focus on how research is translated from bench to bedside, and some of the skills that may be useful along the way. BIG24 will be held at the Life Sciences Institute on March 21, 2024.
