I sat down with the team from Andreessen Horowitz to share my thoughts on the differences between LA and SF TECH WEEK by a16z and which week is best for you to attend. Check out the video below if you want to learn more!
Back-to-back but far from identical: SF and LA Tech Week have evolved into a powerful one-two punch for founders building the next wave of AI. Michael Lingelbach, Founder & CEO of Hedra shares the playbook: SF's tight-knit founder community is where you push the technical boundaries, while LA's creator ecosystem is where you validate real-world applications. Case in point: Hedra unveiled their Character-2 API at #LATechWeek, showing how the next wave of AI meets creative application. Start your week inspired by what's possible when two tech ecosystems combine 🌉✨🎬

"Probe, ask questions. Tinker, play. & don't trust anyone that sounds too confident!" BrXnd.ai's A Day At The Intersection of Brands & AI conference in NYC this week rose above the hype about generative AI. The speakers and content were illuminating, and as much as I learned about generative AI, I learned even more about how to think about generative AI. It is a world changing technology, and requires new mental models for how to engage with it, and what to expect from it. Thank you Noah Brier for having Dstillery there, and for all the new neural pathways now firing in my brain!! https://lnkd.in/eVzDbZwQ

Starting tomorrow night (Fri Oct 18) in #Baltimore, we're hosting an AI hackathon for equity, where participants will explore how AI can be harnessed to identify, reduce, and ultimately eliminate bias in our #news, #information and #media landscape. Over on X, Ted Benson has already started considering this question, noting "Simply asking an LLM to explain its decisions reduced racial bias by an average of 8% in a small experiment I did. Another good reason for "think step by step.." style prompts. Write-up + code in the comments!

Hello, folks! It's that time of year again - SXSW has opened their public voting system, the PanelPicker. I'm on a panel with folks from S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, Syracuse University School of Information Studies (Jaime Banks) and colleagues from Germany (Dr. Jessica M. Szczuka) and Canada (Neil McArthur). Our panel is "Love Machines: The Science of AI Companionship" and we'll be discussing three points: (1) Some people see AI companions as legitimate beings that offer important pleasures, even seeing them as having a mind and a moral compass. (2) AI companions may be fundamentally transforming how some people think about relationships—a mindset ripe for pleasure, pain, and profit. (3) Amid ethical concerns over privacy and manipulation, these AI can also enhance the lives of those who cannot build human connections. We'd love your vote and of course, your willingness to share the link for others. See more, at https://lnkd.in/ey-fAd8f.
