Here’s what UK Black History Month has taught me: Black History Month is a time to honor and celebrate black lives, talent, and excellence that shapes our communities, society and our world. I’ve quietly sat back this month, to see how many people put a spotlight on it 👀 From the content creators, to culture teams, the DEI experts and the proud business owners. And as someone who scrolls LinkedIn for hours everyday, proportionally speaking, it’s been poor. I’m no expert but as a human with eyes and a brain, I can see that black communities still face deep-rooted systemic challenges. Black people are still fighting for their rights to recognition, equity and justice. So you can tell yourself, that strides have been made and “but my best friend is black”. But it’s clear as crystal, that there’s a lot of work still to be done, on and off this platform. ✨✨✨ Follow me (Taq) and ring my ding dong 🔔 for more unsolicited recruitment advice on how to improve your hiring process, random stories and attention-seeking selfies.
I think it would be better if I sat back and listened rather than giving my opinion of history as I’ve lived a relatively privileged life
You are absolutely right Taq (Taqdees) Shah✨ we can all do better to support and raise awareness around the incredible black community who are undeservingly underrepresented.
Our job is never done… Taq (Taqdees) Shah✨
That's just one step Taq ma'am, there's so much more to be done.
Black History Month isn’t just a checkbox on a calendar—it’s a call to action! We need to uplift and support Black voices all year round. Let’s keep the dialogue going and work together to challenge systemic issues Taq (Taqdees) Shah✨
So true Taq (Taqdees) Shah✨ After 30+ years I still fail to see much progress. I once had a teacher who treated Bengali girls differently and when I challenged her, she insisted it wasn't discrimination because she was married to an Indian.
Amen to this sisty! If we have a voice or a position that can spark change, we should use it!
Wow 😲... Nice Post Ma'am 💖... Good words

1moAlso surrounding yourself by Black people who have “higher social standings” who have either dissociated from or managed to escape the oppression of systemic racism is only further reinforcing your stance in upholding racism
