I was fortunate to be able to talk to Mike a couple of weeks ago on the topic of #skillsbasedorganisations and the video clip below shares Mike's view on why companies are adopting a skills strategy. Randstad has over 800 enterprise customers globally, so Mike's insights are influenced from the strategy of many of the world's largest organisations. These organisations are attempting to create more 'liquid' or agile workforce to more effectively respond to the new world of work. To achieve this the organisations need to understand their people better - skills, competencies, behaviours and aspirations. This underpins the notion of #skills as a currency in the world of work today. Interestingly, Mike's view is that companies are at the very early stages of this journey and because of this, the current impact is not yet mirroring the initial intent.
