"It's not your experience, knowledge, or skills. Your heart is your most important leadership tool." Michael Hyatt Just one of the relevant and thought-provoking insights I gained from reading Jonathan Fisher, MD, FACC new book, Just One Heart: A Cardiologist's Guide to Healing, Health, and Happiness. What happens when a distinguished Harvard-trained Cardiologist shifts his focus to genuine care for our hearts in service of well-being, joy, and health? THIS! 👇 A captivating exploration of our lived experience and how we can enrich our lives with a dedication to the 'Seven timeliness traits of the heart.' Jonathan's work fosters organizational resiliency, and in healthcare, resilience is our middle name. 😉 We understand the importance of waking up daily and recommitting to our calling and its challenges. I urge my fellow healthcare professionals to delve into this book and reflect on its valuable practices and approaches. Bravo Jonathan! It's amazing to watch your journey! ❤️ #wellbeing #organizationalresiliency #healthcare #consumerexperience #caregiverexperience #highperformance

𝐀 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧'𝐬 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐑𝐨𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚'𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 As a public health professional, I've always been driven by a passion to make a difference. But recently, I found myself drawn to a powerful source of inspiration - Rohit Sharma's exceptional leadership on and off the cricket field. Watching him elevate his team members, take ownership of failures, adapt with humility, and lead with unwavering purpose has left me inspired. His relentless drive for excellence, resilience in the face of adversity, and generosity of spirit have reignited my own passion for creating a healthcare system that truly serves all. Rohit's leadership has reminded me that our work in public health is not just a job, but a 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞, 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐬. His example has inspired me to dream bigger, to push beyond the boundaries of what's possible, and to believe in the power of collaboration and community. As I continue on this journey, I'm grateful for the lessons I've learned from Rohit's remarkable leadership. 𝐋𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 - 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞. Oh, what a night. Our first annual Leaders Health Summit with HBS Club of Toronto brought together 75+ senior leaders and a distinguished panel of physicians, business advisors, and industry leaders to discuss why health is essential to business performance. Dr. Talia Varley kicked off the evening with a powerful keynote that shared the latest research on why health is your company’s most significant strategic advantage and should be managed with the same rigour as your P&L. This was followed by a lively and engaging panel discussion moderated by C. Mark Angelo and included Dr. Seema Parmar, Dr. Shaan Chugh, Jennifer Sygo, Tennyson Devoe of Purolator Inc., and Janet Bannister of Staircase Ventures. They shared personal stories and actionable strategies to empower leaders in optimizing both their personal health and that of their organization. Health is your company’s biggest strategic advantage. Don’t wait for a crisis to give it the attention it deserves. Preparing now will help mitigate your company’s risk and position you to navigate challenges with resilience and clarity. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 🌄 Integrity matters more than popularity; doing what’s right should guide our actions, regardless of the crowd. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. — Albert Einstein If we want different results, we need to try something new. Sticking to the same routine won’t lead to progress. Change your approach, and that's when you'll see real growth. It was great to work with Lee Scheinbart, MD, CPE on this article. The very first time we met, it was a wonderful exchange of ideas, learnings and life stories that have impacted each of us as physicians and as leaders. That led to this article. As Lee says leadership is hard work but the rewards are great as you make progress on the journey. In leadership I say there are two challenges that are the hardest and in this order: First manage yourself and second manage the performance of others, which is what this article refers to amongst physician colleagues. I hope you enjoy the article and welcome comments or feedback.
Is healthcare in the US in a decline? Is your organization in decline? Do you lead physicians who believe the answer is yes to either of those? What are the potential responses to organizational decline? How can leaders address those responses? What about physicians' (waning) commitments? We live in very difficult times relative to healthcare. Leadership is hard. While some leaders are finding amazing transformational upswings, others are finding the opposite. Scott Nygaard, MD MBA and I put some thoughts into the issues above. Proud to be part of American Association for Physician Leadership® which published our ideas in HALMJ. Lee Health has done some remarkable things in the past few years. Visionary leadership, strong collaboration with physicians, great community support and partnerships to name a few. In spite of intense market forces, explosive population growth, COVID-19, and Hurricane Ian, Lee Health has continued to thrive. 🌊 “If a man knows not which port he sails, no wind is favorable.” – Seneca 🌊 In healthcare, every day brings unique challenges and pressures—staff shortages, budget cuts, and increasing demands on our time and resources. But Seneca’s words remind us that clarity of purpose can transform even the toughest conditions into opportunities for progress. When we know where we're headed, every step—no matter how small—becomes a powerful force toward our goals. As healthcare leaders, it’s up to us to anchor our teams in purpose, even amid uncertainty. Let’s provide a shared vision that turns obstacles into stepping stones, guiding us to serve patients and support our colleagues with resilience and compassion. Together, we can harness each “wind,” pushing forward to improve our workplaces, strengthen our teams, and continue delivering exceptional care. 🌅 #HealthcareLeadership #PurposeDriven #Resilience #HealthcareHeroes #LeadershipMatters #Teamwork #HealthcareManagement #Inspiration #PatientCare #NavigatingChallenges
