On World Movement Disorders Day, I want to share my discussion with the brilliant Cathy Molohan who lives with Parkinson's Disease. Cathy and I met at a conference last year and I was taken aback when she shared the lack of new treatments for Parkinson's Disease. May is ALS Awareness month. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive disease in which the brain loses connection with the muscles, slowly taking a person's ability to walk, talk, eat and eventually breathe. Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for ALS, although researchers around the world are tirelessly working to understand the disease better and to develop potential treatments. However, there is support available for those dealing with or caring for someone with a motor neurone disease (MND) like ALS. Below we have linked to some organisations that help and aim to spread awareness of ALS and MND. https://lnkd.in/epsTwDBN https://lnkd.in/gH5gvtmk #alsawarness #ALSsupport #AlsAwarenessmonth

Noticing the early signs can make a difference in early diagnosis. Every Parkinson's story is different because every person is different, but it all starts with small changes. For instance, a slight tremor in the hand while pouring coffee. Or difficulty tying shoes, balance issues, and slowness in speech. Discovering Parkinson's disease can be an emotionally intense moment, but it's also the beginning of a journey of treatment, listening, and support. #parkinson #parkinsonsdisease #parkinsonsawareness #PD

Today is World Parkinson's Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness for the disease and paying tribute to people living with the condition every day! The first World Parkinson's Day was held in April 1997, set up by the European Parkinson’s Disease Association, today known as Parkinson's Europe and co-sponsored by the World Health Organization. Parkinson’s disease is the fastest-growing neurological disorder in the world, affecting people of all races and cultures. Currently, there are 10 million diagnosed patients globally and the number is estimated to grow up to 25 million by 2050. With our data-driven approach to managing Parkinson’s disease, we will continue to help patients by providing an accurate and clear picture of their condition to get the best treatment possible, improving their quality of life! #worldparkinsonsday #parkinsonsdisease #parkinsonstreatment #revolutionizingparkinsonscare

Every year on April 11th, the world comes together to observe World Parkinson's Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about Parkinson's disease and its impact on individuals, families, and communities worldwide. Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement, balance, and coordination, and it currently has no cure. World Parkinson's Day serves as an opportunity to educate the public about the signs, symptoms, and challenges associated with Parkinson's disease. It's a time to highlight the importance of early detection, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as to promote research efforts aimed at finding better therapies and ultimately a cure for Parkinson's. #WorldParkinsonsDay #ParkinsonsAwareness #ParkinsonsDisease #UniteForParkinsons #ParkinsonsSupport #EndParkinsons #ParkinsonsResearch #ParkinsonsCommunity #ParkinsonsFight #ParkinsonsAwarenessMonth #LivingWithParkinsons #ParkinsonsAdvocacy #ParkinsonsHope #ParkinsonsWarrior

With advancing age comes an increased risk of disease and disability. As people live longer, they are more likely to develop at least one age-related disease. NIH-funded researchers are working to better understand aging at the molecular level. Learn about some of the latest studies that seek to slow or even reverse aging at this level, potentially leading to new approaches to prevent or treat age-related disorders: https://lnkd.in/efuP-DE4 #NIAFunded #NIHAging #AgingResearch

Did you know? Around 10-20% of individuals with Parkinson's face symptoms before age 50, termed "early onset." Despite similar treatments, the disease may manifest differently in younger individuals. Researchers are actively delving into the roots of early-onset Parkinson's, aiming to unravel its underlying causes. Let's spread awareness and support ongoing efforts towards better understanding and management of this condition. Learn more about Early-Onset PD at the link below and this is a great video of young individual facing a diagnosis that will forever impact his life. https://lnkd.in/eheAbCQ8 #ParkinsonsAwareness #EarlyOnsetResearch
