Part 2/2 Perception Change and Thinking Out of the Box but how? continued.... But I realized i had an EMI coming up fast and had to make the payment. So, I asked myself, what can I do to get better sales and maybe even hit my target? This quickly got me out of my victim state of mind and into a lets turn things around and make the most of the situation state of mind. I realized that all my Sales "Pallaba" would be useless if it was not accompanied with a strong Visual. But what visual? A visual that gave a sense of added Value i realized. At that time, simcards did not have any packaging and were distributed like visiting cards. So, the visual had to be some kind of packaging I said to myself. Then I asked what kindly of packaging could invoke a sense of value and help change the perception of a customer, the answer was clear to me. Gold!!!!!! The majority of Indians invested in Gold Jewellery back then. Not in Stock or Gold Bonds but proper tangible Gold Jewellery. The purchase of a piece of Gold Jewellery also gave a sense of deep satisfaction to Indians and a feeling of having done something right and a feeling of having made it in this world financially in some small way atleast. So there it was!!!!!! I went to a Jewellery shop and purchased a bunch of small Red Velvet cloth pouches at Rupees 2.50 per pouch. It was the same kind of pouch that jewellers would pack their small Jewellery in. The next visit to the Auto parts trader, I put a Sim card in that pouch. Went through the usual routine and ended up selling two sims instead of One!!! That month my sales went up exponentially and I ended up being one of the top Sales Person. I never spoke a word about anything different with the sim I sold or never spoke of anything about the product that wasn't true. My sales pitch was the same as before but now, the way the customers viewed the Sim was completely different, they saw Value in it, the pouch reminded them of the most valuable asset in their eyes they coud buy. The 2.50 rupee pouch, changed their Perception!!!!! I realized that day that: 1. Most People are not Price conscious but Value conscious. 2. Thinking out of the box does not mean re-inventing the wheel but rather looking at it from a different perspective and spinning it differently. 3. Instead of Playing Victim, don't be afraid to try things no matter how absurd it may seem at that time. 4. Don't be afraid to Fail!!!!!! #thinkoutofthebox #perception #sales

I saw this post on Facebook from a year back when I git my watch. The principles were so good I share it with you now because even I need to be reminded of this sometimes about the sales customer journey. As an example, my wife and I have been going to a local jewelry store every 6 months for the past 5-6 years. Part of the warranty is to have her ring checked out every time. Usually, this takes about 15-20 minutes, and I browse around the store. I've talked to multiple salespeople there, and they always ask if they can help me. But this time, something was different. The sales lady came up and asked me a specific question: "Which one do you like?" I pointed to two watches, and she asked if I wanted to try them on. Here's a key to sales: if someone is looking, they're interested. You just need to help them make a decision. The first watch felt classic, but the second one made me feel happy. I looked at my wife and said I liked it, but I never wear watches. She reminded me that I always look at them when we're there, and the sales lady offered to let me wear it out of the store. Long story short, I bought the watch and wear it often. But I never would have even thought to do so if she didn't ask me to touch my dream. How many people are you missing out on because you didn't ask for the sale? If you need help with this or any other aspect of increasing your sales, I'd love to hop on a quick call and see if I can help. Just DM me or say "Watch" in the comments.

People love to buy but hate being sold. Read it again! It doesn’t make sense right? That’s because it’s a paradox. Paradoxes don’t make sense most times. Doesn’t mean they’re not true. You think about. How do you feel when you walk up to a watch store and pick up a Rolex purchase it, put it on your wrist Pay and walk out majestically How do you feel? Free? Bossy? Good? Yeah. But imagine you walked up into the store and someone was telling you to buy a bag. Shoving the bag in your face. How do you feel? Quite the opposite of good right? That’s because someone is trying hard to sell you. But what if the seller took a different. After you bought the Rolex. Which is now seating pretty on your wrist. The seller took you to the front of the mirror.🪞 Telling you how stunning you look, then goes ahead and add. Don’t you think you would look better with a Gucci hand bag? He’s not selling to you. He’s giving you a chance to say yes or no. What changed? “Suggestion” You’ll likely think it over. And since you’re all in your head about how stunning you look. You’ll convince yourself “I would look better with the hand bag”. 💼 If you can afford it? Boom. You buy it on the spot. Easy!! Everyone wins. You weren’t sold. Still you bought. And you gave that money away because you thought it was your decision. Apparently, was it?🙂↔️ If you read to this point, I’m sure you got the message. Selling is in the ability to make it obvious that the decision is theirs. Felt like you learnt something off my piece, like and share. Who knows you might be rescuing someone’s business in the process.

This is how we, salespeople, make you spend more (part 1) and before I reveal the secrets, you need to understand that the majority of salespeople have the flexibility to give you something between the lowest A and the highest point B. It's completely up to their negotiation skills and 3 key factors which side of the range you will end up on. 3 key factors to being upsold every single time 👇🏻 #1 You come to the meeting dressed to impress. Your brands, scream: he/she has money, take it! And we,salespeople, will grab the bull by the horns. For us, your 1200$ shoes and Hermès bags are the indicator of your wallet, not of your great taste. And believe me, when I say, we know, old money, brands too…We don't need a Gucci logo all over your belt, to know your Loro Piana mean the business too.. Try to be subtle and leave your Audemars Piguet watch at home #2 You reveal to early on your full name Eperienced Salesperson always checks your background, cause if I see your net worth on Google or see your are from a wealthy background on LinkedIn, be ready to pay 40-50% more… #3 You reveal to early on about your business, family, or assets… If you say, that you spend your summers on Mykonos in Scorpios and do nothing but stay in Gstaad Palace when hanging out with friends.. I will make sure you pay the double. 👀 Is this all ethical? Yes and no… Salespeople are like bulls, to stay safe, try not to vawe red flags in front of us, cause we mostly work on commissions and are better at understanding psychology than 99% of people with majors… Hope this helps!
