"We are at a point now where women are in a position to lead in how we construct our institutions, conduct our foreign policy, and make decisions. Evidence shows that when women are present, better decisions are made, and they last longer. This is a very practical decision. We have the evidence to show us that when it comes to creating and sustaining peace, women make the difference." ~Cynda Collins Arsenault, in Mj Toledo's article in The Guardian. Throughout history, women have made essential contributions to #politics and international relations when they have a seat at the table. In the biggest electoral year in history, 113 countries have never had a woman Head of State, new data from UN Women shows. Without the input of half the world’s population, we cannot develop policies that work for everyone. On International Day of Women in Diplomacy and every day, join us to celebrate and promote participation of women at all levels of decision-making. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ge7RNJ9D

Happy International Women's Day! Today, let's celebrate the extraordinary women who have made a lasting impact on our lives through their resilience and commitment to global peace. Last year, I defended my dissertation, which centered on the critical role of women's resilience in enhancing national security. My research shed light on the transformative impact women have made since the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security. This framework resolution not only recognized the unique challenges women face during conflicts but also the significant role women play in peace processes and security policy-making. Women have consistently shown a strong commitment to disarmament, country stability, and peace. Their approach to conflict resolution is inherently tied to the well-being of their communities, emphasizing empowerment and reconciliation. There's compelling evidence that when women participate in negotiations, the likelihood of reaching an agreement increases significantly. Their perspectives and strategies often focus on long-term stability rather than short-term victories, which is crucial for lasting peace. Yet, despite these contributions, women remain underrepresented at negotiation tables. It is not just a matter of equity—women deserve to be meaningfully represented because their involvement leads to more durable and inclusive peace solutions. Women's voices are essential in crafting policies and agreements that truly address the needs and rights of all community members. As we celebrate International Women's Day, let's advocate for and commit to ensuring a world where women's contributions to peace and security are not just welcomed but seen as indispensable. The time is now to champion the role of women in leading us to a more stable, peaceful, and equitable future. #InternationalWomensDay #WomenPeaceSecurity #UNSCR1325 #GenderEquality #NationalSecurity #SustainablePeace #WomenPeacePower

🌺 International Women's Day 🌺 It is impossible to mark International Women's Day without mentioning and praying for the return of all the captives (both women and men) held by Hamas. Much has been written in legal theory about the role of the law in creating social change. Thanks to the social change that began about 30 years ago, we are witnessing the crucial contribution of women in Israeli society, and particularly after October 7th, we are witnessing women serving in combat and command roles, as well as key positions where they contribute their talents and energy day and night in defending all of us. Wonderful women, our sisters, mothers, daughters, and friends - they are the ones who make our lives full of love and happiness. 💖 Yes, that very change that began about 30 years ago, thanks to the Alice Miller Supreme Court case that ruled on women's rights to equality, and specifically on Alice Miller's right, as a civilian pilot, to be admitted to the Israeli Air Force's pilot training course. As the honorable (retired) Justice Dorner stated: "The right to dignity – which enshrines the prohibition of discrimination against women – is one of the most important fundamental human rights... A society in which discrimination is practiced is not a healthy society, and a state in which discrimination exists cannot be called a proper state... The potential of half the population is not being realized, and society is thus impaired." On this day, we strengthen your hands and appreciate your contribution to Israeli society. Together, we will continue to work towards equal opportunities, mutual respect, and the advancement of women in all walks of life. 👭 Happy Women's Day! 🌺 #InternationalWomensDay #EqualOpportunities #WomenLeaders #GirlPower #MurandPartners #Rights #Gratitude
