Please give Jasmine's breakdown a watch. It's about time we challenged the "simple economics" idea.
"It's not about a lack of interest, but a lack of investment."

"Nobody Watches Women's Golf" - is said to me far too often and I'm told that the pay gap is just ‘simple economics. But is that actually true?
Here's my response...
I think it's the media co's that need hammering in truth...there are plenty out there and there are many slots to fill to grow the women's game...whether it be digital (video) or print publications. Jaz is doing an amazing job but maybe more women golfers (& I mean the tour players) should make more of an effort to engage with the media in a bid to raise awareness. A lot of the top players in the women's game (and I mean this respectfully & nicely) are a bit uncharismatic and dull so maybe the ones that do engage (Charley Hull for example who is amazing) needs to rally the others. I love watching women's golf particularly the majors and Solheim...but some of the players need a kick up the backside to be more engaging & interesting IMO. Maybe a series like the 'Full Swing' that Netflix did (but just focusing on the women's tour) could help. We'd be happy to shoot the footage and make some kind of series. Finally (and this is contentious.) a lot of the top tour players are ridiculously slow which makes it boring to watch, (ask Charley) so maybe a rocket up a few would help!! I agree that more needs to be done to get the women's game on a par with the men's as far as funding, prize money and PR is concerned...we'd be happy to help!
The money on the LPGA is now really good. Out with the Rolex events it’s a bigger prize fund than a dp tour event. Not to mention the huge purses in the majors and cme tour championship. The women’s game is in a great place and rightly so.
A wonderful example of greater exposure leading to greater interest is the creation of the Professional Womens Hockey League in 2023/24. At first, smaller arenas were booked because the thought was it would take time to build interest. Within the first week it became apparent that the public's appetite for "women's hockey" was significantly underestimated, misunderstood, and definitely under monetized.
All it took was some advertising, a fairly consistent schedule, and good old fashioned heated rivalries, and the stands were packed. While the tv audience was at home was cheering on their favourite stars when they weren't watching advertising.
It seems to me, thinking in economic terms, that demand for high quality sports is likely close to infinite based upon the industry as a whole. My belief is that many customers of sports are sitting on the sidelines looking for "their" sport. So if female sports have success it doesn't take away from anyone else's success. In fact it is the proverbial win win scenario for business.

This is a powerful and well-articulated statement from Jasmine (The Jazzy Golfer) that challenges the narrative around women’s sports, particularly golf.
It’s time to challenge the misconceptions:
📊 Reinforce the Evidence: Women’s sports do draw crowds when promoted and broadcast equally. Data proves it.
🔍 Challenge Myths: Entertainment value doesn’t differ by gender; exposure does.
💡 Focus on Solutions: Equal media coverage, sponsorships, and fan support are key.
🚀 Amplify the Potential: Investing in women’s sports isn’t charity, it’s smart business.
❤️ Engage Emotionally: Women’s sports inspire just as much as men’s, with stories that resonate deeply.
The pay gap reflects opportunity gaps, not differences in talent or value. Let’s believe in the potential of women in sports and take action: watch, share, support, and invest.

Wages just don’t cut it like they did for our parents (or grandparents).
In today’s economy, owning assets is far more valuable than just having a paycheck.
And marrying a guy in finance? That’s not true…
We were raised on the belief that women could outpace, out-educate, and succeed.
But we also grew up with the pressure to seek self-fulfilment above all else.
Now, Gen Z is looking at economics and class in relationships differently.

Grandma reflects on how women have and can improve their finances. Take a listen!!!
Not too long ago women gained the right to control their destiny when it comes to money.
That's why it's important for me to spread the "Pay Yourself More" message to all women entrepreneurs to ensure we are not shortchanging ourselves in our business.
➡️In 1963, laws were enacted to promote women's pay be fair and equal
➡️In 1974, an act was passed giving women the right to have a credit card solely in their name.
➡️In 1988, the Women's Business Ownership Act allowed women to get a business loan without a male co-signer.
Entrepreneurship is a critical pathway to financial freedom and generational wealth building for women.
And as entrepreneurs we have the privilege to determine our worth and pay ourselves what we deserve.
But many women entrepreneurs wonder how to practically do that without putting their business and team at risk.
Next Wednesday, March 27th 2024 at 12pm EST, join me to learn how to practically and confidently pay yourself a better salary without putting your team or business at risk.

I started investing in stocks at age 21 ( And I realised I started too late). I bought my first commercial property in partnership with a dear friend at 22. And with the profits from the sale of the stocks and shop, I bought my first house at 24.
When I arrived at HDFC bank to sign my loan agreement, the bank manager went on to ask me if my father bought it for me . And I said ( not realising what would follow next) “No. it’s from my investments, my father is not in favour of me buying this house coz according to him I should save this for my marriage, so I can buy gold jewellery.”
Then he said, “You are the first girl I have met in my whole career and life who has bought a house and that too at the age of 24. I just bought my first house at 40!” Not knowing what to say, I said “There is always a first time” and went on congratulate on his home purchase. (It is a big deal after all). This was in 2007.
I know, This sounds like a brag post but this is a sad post actually.
Coz when I was watching the India budget highlights I realised the sad state of real estate ownership amongst women even after 17 years from the time I bought my first house.
Currently, land and property ownership among Indian women is significantly lower than among men. Approximately 62% of Indian men own a house, compared to only 42% of women, with only 13% of women owning a house independently.
The Finance Minister has urged state governments to reduce stamp duty on property transactions for women to encourage more female property ownership. This initiative seeks to disrupt the male-dominated land ownership in India. According to the World Bank, strong land rights can drive growth, reduce poverty, and promote social progress, including gender equity.
That’s why focusing on women's challenges in budgets & economic policies is crucial for addressing gender gaps in wages, healthcare, and opportunities caused by centuries of patriarchy.
Reducing stamp duty alone is not enough; a comprehensive approach involving legal changes, cultural reforms, and education is necessary to improve women's land ownership. BUT this is a great start coz cost savings is a great motivator. Waiting to see which state will be the first to do it.
Fun Fact: I did not wear real jewellery when I got married because I had real estate. (I know that’s a lousy joke but could’nt help it!)

Women see their inheritance as theirs, not a joint asset.
As their financial power grows, so does the conversation around domestic responsibilities.
If women are stepping up financially, men should step up in the domestic sphere.
We're seeing progress, but it's not enough.
The shift towards dual-income households requires a shift in domestic roles too.
Order my book Inheritocracy to find out how the biggest wealth transfer in history will impact your life and the society we live in.

New series coming soon...“Let’s Talk About It” is a series presented by Kinetic Kares to enhance our collective knowledge base about our finances. We think talking about salaries, personal lessons we’ve learned, and experiences in our financial journeys could be advantageous to women anywhere – especially when these topics are still not regular conversation items. We’re picking the minds of brilliant women and asking them advice on some questions that have real life implications for our day to day.
