Fire is on our mind all the time, serving as volunteer firefighters for our community. More metaphorically we recall the power of fire to destroy and to clear out that which we don't need. We spent significant time around this time last year personally responding to a pair of wildfires, including one that ran right up to the street across from our house. See prior post of us as volunteer firefighters for background. Cancelling meetings due to our needing to "put out a fire" took a whole new meaning - and in this case it was not a metaphorical fire, you know that annoying request for a last minute report or change... Thanks to those who we cancelled on, we'll get back on your calendars! And in talking to the great NC and US Forest Service personnel (these folks are amazing at their job - and tireless and fearless!) they reminded all of us how this would actually be a good thing for the land and our safety in the long run as the under brush that is now burned out would come back stronger, lusher and more beautiful - now there's a metaphor we can apply to our life and facilitation. What might you be ready to let go of? #fire #facilitation #clearing #insights #metaphor #ahha #whatnolongerserves #action PS - Let us know if you want some action shots... fire hoses can get pretty heavy.

Fire safety is not a joke—people’s lives depend on it. At Pal Fire, we’re committed to doing things right, protecting what you can’t afford to lose: your loved ones, your home, and everything you’ve worked hard for. I met a man recently who nearly lost everything in the 2018 Wolsey fire, and his life still hasn’t returned to normal. Fire doesn’t just destroy things; it leaves lasting emotional and mental scars. This is why we do what we do. 🔥💙 #firesafety #protectwhatmatters #homesafety #safetyfirst #lovedones #fireprevention #fireprotection #wolseyfire #staysafe #familyfirst

When Duty Calls... The bravery of firefighters is defined by their willingness to put themselves in harm's way to protect others. They run toward danger when others flee, facing intense heat, toxic gas, smoke, collapsing structures, and unpredictable conditions. This courage isn’t just about physical strength but a deep sense of duty and a commitment to saving lives, property, and communities. Their bravery shines in the moments when they push beyond fear—entering burning structures, rescuing people from perilous situations, and enduring long, exhausting hours to control dangerous fires. It’s the kind of bravery that involves constant training, split-second decision-making, and the selflessness to risk everything for those they’ve never met. This relentless courage makes firefighters not only protectors but also role models of resilience and compassion in their communities. Kudos to all the firefighters out there! #FireFighters #WorkRiskAlliance

Seven years ago today 72 people lost their lives at Grenfell Tower. The Grenfell fire was the catalyst that started the conversation about things needing to change in the construction industry. We in our industry must get better, we must strive for positive change and improvement across the board. We must strive for an industry based on values, integrity and competence, rather than misplaced confidence, poor qualifications and low price. We must strive for more effective and impactful regulation. We must be honest about our past mistakes and failures, and strive for an industry that ensures that we learn from that past. We’ve all got to do our bit to reset our industry, and drive forward the systemic change, that needs to happen, in a meaningful way. Change that needs to make a positive difference. There is a job of work that needs to be done focussed on outcomes that need to happen. Thoughts today are not just with the victims’ families, but the survivors and emergency services; firefighters and paramedics who responded that night. #healthandsafety #fire #firesafety #tetra #firefighting #firefighters #remember #remembering #rememberingthem #emergencyservices #Grenfell

In my three decades as a firefighter, I've witnessed courage that defies imagination. These men and women aren't just tough – they're forged in fire, literally and figuratively. 7 challenges firefighters face daily: 1. Physical exhaustion from grueling shifts 2. Mental stress from life-or-death decisions 3. Exposure to toxic chemicals, pathogens, and carcinogens 4. Emotional trauma from witnessing tragedy 5. Disrupted family life due to unpredictable schedules 6. Constant need for training and skill upgrading 7. Risk of severe injury or death on every call Yet they show up, day after day, ready to sacrifice everything for strangers. Firefighters aren't just employees. They're guardians of our communities, deserving our utmost respect and support. How can we better honor and care for these everyday heroes? Let's discuss ways to give back to those who give so much.
