Fire is on our mind all the time, serving as volunteer firefighters for our community. More metaphorically we recall the power of fire to destroy and to clear out that which we don't need. We spent significant time around this time last year personally responding to a pair of wildfires, including one that ran right up to the street across from our house. See prior post of us as volunteer firefighters for background. Cancelling meetings due to our needing to "put out a fire" took a whole new meaning - and in this case it was not a metaphorical fire, you know that annoying request for a last minute report or change... Thanks to those who we cancelled on, we'll get back on your calendars! And in talking to the great NC and US Forest Service personnel (these folks are amazing at their job - and tireless and fearless!) they reminded all of us how this would actually be a good thing for the land and our safety in the long run as the under brush that is now burned out would come back stronger, lusher and more beautiful - now there's a metaphor we can apply to our life and facilitation. What might you be ready to let go of? #fire #facilitation #clearing #insights #metaphor #ahha #whatnolongerserves #action PS - Let us know if you want some action shots... fire hoses can get pretty heavy.

❓ Want to know how to thank a firefighter? 👏🔥 Prevent all unwanted human-caused fires (a thank you card or a high five ✋ is pretty nice as well) 😉 With current high temperatures, numerous fires both locally and in neighboring states, and a good two more months of fire season ahead, it’s imperative that we do everything we can to avoid adding to the fire load with preventable ignitions. Feeling extra motivated? Create defensible and survivable space around your home and property. This not only creates a safer working environment for our fire folks but also increases your resilience to wildfire. When Duty Calls... The bravery of firefighters is defined by their willingness to put themselves in harm's way to protect others. They run toward danger when others flee, facing intense heat, toxic gas, smoke, collapsing structures, and unpredictable conditions. This courage isn’t just about physical strength but a deep sense of duty and a commitment to saving lives, property, and communities. Their bravery shines in the moments when they push beyond fear—entering burning structures, rescuing people from perilous situations, and enduring long, exhausting hours to control dangerous fires. It’s the kind of bravery that involves constant training, split-second decision-making, and the selflessness to risk everything for those they’ve never met. This relentless courage makes firefighters not only protectors but also role models of resilience and compassion in their communities. Kudos to all the firefighters out there! #FireFighters #WorkRiskAlliance

A firefighter does more than put out fires. That’s just one of many things that a firefighter does. As well as extinguishing flames and saving people from danger, a firefighter also helps with hazardous materials, road traffic incidents, medical emergencies, floods, and even rescuing cats in trees (yes, really). This article provides commonly asked interview questions and their sample answers. https://lnkd.in/dv4xA6n5

Big project on the horizon where we are identifying all vegetation within 5’ of structures and beyond using UAS LiDAR. Here’s one reason why. #drone #firesafety #forestry #lidar #gismapping #aerialmapping
Why is the 0-5' zone so critical? Watch what happens when there is no firefighter intervention. Create a non-combustible 0-5' zone to give your home the best chance to stand on it's own during a wildfire.
