Its exam result day in Scotland🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 A reminder that there is no wrong path👏🏼 I remember being in my last year of school. I was physically unwell and was struggling to attend school some days. My friends were all applying to University or already had offers. I did too - an unconditional for Nursing at UWS. I only applied as its the only course I could get an unconditional for with the grades I had. I felt those who werent going to University were singled out for wanting to go down another path - college, apprenticeships or straight into work. I speak alot about my career journey on social media and i’m passionate on letting the younger generation know that there are sooo many options. Being 17/18 and having to try and decide what you want to do for the rest of your life can be so daunting. Leaving school I worked part time in Wilko and part time in a kids soft play. I eventually got my apprenticeship in a Law firm and from there, worked my way up to where I am today. Earning money while furthering my education with hands on experience. “We all have a role in affecting change” Such a simple statement and when applied, a powerful outcome can happen. National Employment Services Association conference 2024 held last week in Brisbane reminded me of the incredible people that work across the sector. Thought provoking plenary sessions, topical break outs and a lot of networking across the 3 days was had. I was pleased to bring apprenticeships to many conversations with providers. Exploring the changes and priority groups (including those with a disability and First Nation Australians) and how there are some really key mutual benefits in collaborating strategically with Apprentice Connect Australia Providers were some of the most fruitful discussions. 🎯Over 101,000 apprentices qualified through completions in the last 12 months. 🎯 in excess of 350,000 Australians are active in their apprenticeship or trainineship currently 🎯 almost 12,000 vacancies nationally for apprenticeships or traineeships are listed on seek.com It’s not the pathway for everyone but it’s a genuinely successful pathway for those seeking a career and ready to commit to learning whilst they’re earning. #Employment #Apprenticeships #VET #Collaboration #Careers #MutualOutcomes #Unemployment #MasNational #IntoWorkAustralia
