So what does 2024-25 have in store for us in safeguarding? Sadly, we cannot predict (or prevent) everything. Working in Safeguarding can be incredibly challenging and lonely but remember to reach out to your trusted adults, it can be for advice, challenge or just someone to hear you when you need to talk - no one should need to manage safeguarding in schools alone. Remember your "why" and in order to be at our best to support our children & families we need to ensure that we have the support we need as DSLs. #Togetherwesafeguardourchildren

Information sharing advice for safeguarding practitioners -DfE Updated Guidance https://lnkd.in/eJ_kZgaa The document has been significantly rewritten to instill confidence in practitioners of the legal framework that supports the sharing of information for the purposes of safeguarding. The guidance is for: 1) Individuals who are directly involved in safeguarding children, including frontline practitioners, managers and senior leaders 2) Individuals and organisations that work with children, parents, carers and families, in sectors such as social care, education, health, justice and voluntary It may also be helpful for practitioners working with vulnerable adults and adults who could pose a risk to children. The Seven golden rules for sharing information (including personal information) have been updated including more clarity on the use of consent and the legal frameworks needed to support the sharing of information. The guide also discusses why consent is not usually the most appropriate lawful basis in a safeguarding context. You should also read the 10 step guide to sharing information to safeguard children https://lnkd.in/eeQqUYfe from the Information Commissioner’s Office. #childsafeguarding #childprotection #childabuse #workingtogether #informationsharing #safeguardingchildren #procedures
