Misconceptions on the Menu: Nebraska’s Stand Against Cultivated Meat Nebraska’s governor may have announced anti-cultivated meat initiatives, but the reality is quite different. 🚫 There’s currently no way to scale up cultivated meat, no significant consumer demand driving it, and no food safety issues even if it could be scaled. This is yet another example of resistance based on misconceptions rather than facts. #CulinaryTides #SuzyBadaracco #FoodInnovation #CultivatedMeat #AgPolicy #FutureOfFood Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/edBwPZ6H

Pet food brand Meatly has become the first European company to receive regulatory approval for selling cultivated meat for pet food in the UK. Meatly's production facility has been approved to produce and handle cultivated chicken. The company worked closely with FSA, DEFRA and APHA to ensure compliance, with extensive safety testing conducted on its cultivated chicken product. CEO Owen Ensor has expressed pride in this achievement, stating, "we are proving that there is a safe and low-capital way to rapidly bring cultivated meat to market." Meatly plans to launch its first samples this year, with a focus on cost reduction and scaling production to industrial volumes within the next three years. #CultivatedMeat #PetFood #Sustainability #Innovation #Foodnews

Another major food safety scare - we need a more robust food traceability process across the industry to ensure public health. To this end, FDA's FSMA 204, also known as the Food Traceability Rule, is a section of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) that aims to make it faster to identify and remove contaminated food from the market, which can help reduce foodborne illnesses and deaths. Intelliswift Software's Supply Chain CoE has combined with its Data and AI practices to introduce iFoodTrack(TM) - an end to end solution to address food traceability in the 21st century. Let's talk today. Gopinath Chappidi, Rajesh Samai, Vadivel Devarajan, Arvind Sampath https://lnkd.in/gkdfrRtg

❌ Alarming new initiatives from certain federal states in Austria are taking aim at cultivated meat on the basis of prevalent misinformation. The initiatives – some of which call for an EU-wide ban before applications have even been submitted to regulators – stand at odds with public opinion in Austria, where our recent survey found 63% supported the approval of cultivated meat if it met the EU’s rigorous food safety standards. Food companies’ claims get more attention from the USDA By Dan Flynn on September 3, 2024 The USDA has released new guidance for food companies that make animal-raising and climate claims about their food. This updated guideline makes recommendations to strengthen the documentation supporting animal-raising or environment-related claims on meat or poultry product labeling. The new action builds on USDA’s work to protect consumers from false and misleading labels and to implement President Biden’s Executive Order on Promoting Competition in the American economy. “USDA continues to deliver on its commitment to fairness and choice for both farmers and consumers, which means supporting transparency and high-quality standards,” said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. “These updates will help to level the playing field for businesses who are truthfully using these claims and ensure people can trust the labels when they purchase meat and poultry products.” https://lnkd.in/ga-nVDsU
