Now this will get the beer geeks going! Carlsberg announces a new idea, 'Fresh Beer', really? So the story goes the Danes have created this wonderful new concept for serving beer called fresh beer, or put another way Keg beer served through a hand pull. Sorry Carlsberg it is not exactly new, it's been around for years, but this is the important part, it's filling a demand in the marketplace that is growing week on week as many smaller pubs can not support having a raft of cask beers on the bar. Nothing in my mind can beat the delicious taste of the Champagne of ales good cask beer; but if we are to see the rural pub survive, and some of the smaller boozers then you have to look at beer viability and provide a high-quality alternative. Shakespere is a brewery-conditioned beer served with a handpull. What a heinous thing to say, Simon Buckley, much gnashing of the teeth by the CAMRA camp, fraud say others, but the truth L&G is that the beer is excellent, gives the licensee increased shelf life, and most importantly, if well made is a good second to cask ale. Where Carlsberg went wrong was by calling the product Fresh Beer instead of telling the consumer what it really is Brewery Conditioned Beer. Just put it on the pumpclip, and then everyone knows what they are getting. ...that is what we have done with CWRW, now available as a brewery-conditioned beer, cask and bottle. Which now means that it is without a doubt 'probably one of the best beers in the world'

Non-Alcoholic Beer or ノンアルビール Has any beer loving person to date found a non-alcohol beer that is as good as any regular beer? If yes, please tell the rest of the world. I drink beer because some of them taste really good; not because I can get plastered. That’s the last thing I want. Here is the thing. Yesterday, I took out a regular beer (Alpine lager), popped a lid and realized it was not cold enough. Cheap me, I put the can back in the frig with the lid popped open, thinking I can use it for cooking. Next day, around noon, I went to the frig and saw no other beer except the one with lid damage. I took it out and drank it anyway. You know what? No deterioration in taste, and after finishing the can, I was not feeling the usual afternoon (delight) buzz. That hit me. And this is just a conjecture. People trying to brew non-alcoholic beers must have been trying to make “non-alcoholic” beer from the beginning of the brewing process. May be the trick is: make regular alcoholic beer and then eliminate the alcoholic content without compromising on the taste. Make it full and then pull back. Isn’t that an easier way? I think I am going to a patent office tomorrow. KANPAI!

Let's talk about balance in beers. Have you ever ordered an IPA in a taproom with 70-80 IBUs and realized that the bitterness of the beer is actually not that present? Well this is thanks to the balance between the sweetness of the malt and the bitterness of the hops. Let's see: IBU's (international bitterness units) is the international measure to establish bitterness in beer. This is established by each brewer when the formulation and brewing of the beer is carried out. Analysis can later be done in the laboratory for accurate numbers. This amount of IBUs counteracts the amount of sweetness provided by the malt. Now, why is balance even in the most malty beers so important? Simple: Drinkability. Drinkability is what all of us, brewers, should aspire. We need to aspire that all our creations are in a high range of drinkability, this will help us make our product appealing to the majority of beer lovers. I am aware that not all of us like the same types of beer, and that sometimes a beer with 80 IBUS can be seen as very bitter, but I invite you to try it, and analyze if there is a balance between bitterness and caramel flavors. , chocolate, bread, cookies and malt sweetness. I'll be honest, I love IPAs, that feeling of freshness and citrus, fruity, spicy aromas that the hops give is really pleasant to my senses, however, I like that the IPA that I am enjoying at my favorite bar is very well balanced, so in That way, I can order one or two more after reach the bottom of my glass.
