When did you last check in with your business? We've just started a new quarter at Seed and a couple of weeks back I spent some time reviewing how the business had performed against its KPIs that I sent at the beginning of the financial year. I also reviewed the action plan that I'd created in January to help me reach my goals for the year. Once I did all that, I created my new action plan for the next quarter. My KPIs for the year are a combination of external marketing efforts and client satisfaction. I chose to focus less on financial targets and instead focus on getting and keeping clients, which will obviously improve the financial status of the business. My goals are mostly cashflow based and each quarter I write out actions that I will take to help me reach them. Sometimes these action plans need a bit of tweaking depending on how well I've completed them! I highly recommend completing this fairly basic, but critical job regularly. If you don't know where you are, you can't know what you need to do to get you where you want to be. And you need to check in regularly on your progress in case you're not quite on the right track. So consider scheduling 90minutes in the next week or so to focus on doing this for your business, and then check in again in 90 days.
