🎄🤶 a Festive FAQ 🎄🤶⁠ ⁠ Gotcha! Nothing festive about this - (unless you're an accountant up to your eyeballs in self assessments 🤣)⁠ ⁠ We've had a RECORD number of queries this year asking why we need a pension savings statement for someone's self assessment tax return. So I thought I'd take to socials to explain why it is SO important!⁠ ⁠ Why do we want one?⁠ ✅ check you've obtained tax relief⁠ ✅ check whether you're entitled to more tax relief!⁠ ⁠ Other info:⁠ There are 2 main types of workplace pension schemes - net pay arrangement (NPA) and relief at source (RAS). ⁠ 💰NPA: contributions are deducted from your gross salary and you obtain tax relief directly through payroll. If you have £100 deducted from gross pay, you'll have £100 in your pension pot.⁠ 💰 RAS: contributions are deducted from net pay (after tax and NI). Your pension provider claims basic rate tax from the government on your behalf. If you have £100 deducted from your pay, your provider claims £20, so you'll have £120 in your pension pot. ⁠ ⁠ If you're a higher or additional rate taxpayer, and you contribute via RAS, you'll be entitled to additional tax relief.⁠ ⁠ 🤯🤯🤯?
