Really enjoyed speaking yesterday at #greenbuild 2024 about the Changing Role of the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) from the perspective of sustainability strategists and advisors, alongside Elena Alschuler Sara Neff Nicole Isle and Renée Loveland, EMSL. What an incredible group of panelists! None of us is a CSO, but we were able to speak to how sustainability is being driven forward for our clients and within our organizations – shout out to Robert Bernard, our amazing CSO here at CBRE. A few key ideas we touched on: - The need to simplify complexity – sustainability requires buy-in and understanding from a huge array of stakeholders. Leaders need to tell a compelling story that is clear and non-technical about how sustainability supports the business bottom line. - Sustainability is critical to protecting and optimizing long-term real estate value. Investments in building retrofits help guard against regulatory and resilience risk, and, when structured properly, help ensure real estate owners can benefit from the upside of positive resale value. - Leadership buy-in at the top level is key – as the HBR article inspiration for the panel says - https://lnkd.in/gchHi2Sd - it’s critical to have support from the C-suite to get the needed resources to drive impact. I’m proud to work for a company like CBRE that prioritizes sustainability and is helping to accelerate it across our industry. #CBREsustainability #sustainability #carbon #climatechange

1moSimplicity is so important. In a sea of acronyms we run the risk of leaving people behind. And we need every hand on deck. Would love to hear more about how you are seeing that CSO and other roles changing
