Many of you have been asking, and I finally have looked at enough numbers and reviewed enough of the fundamentals to make my call: Here is where you should donate strategically to help hold the Senate. https://lnkd.in/evYwiTX3
In September, ACLU organized 150+ nonprofits signed a letter in opposition of the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act (H.R. 9495). This month, our national sector partners have issued a joint statement of opposition to this bill and its provisions.
While the goal of this bill may sound straightforward, it would provide the Treasury Secretary with nearly unchecked power to revoke the tax-exempt status of charities without due process, and there is potential for this provision to be abused.
The Minnesota Council on Foundations is in opposition to this provision in the bill and have been reaching out to the Minnesota Congressional delegation to share our perspective on this issue.

If you work in the Christian/Catholic non profit space, You have to read this report on Blackbaud. It will make you sick to your stomach.

As organizations work in the trenches, reforming America's entrenched systems, they face nonstop pressure. Now more than ever, we need the bold support described in recent discussions: foundations stepping into the fray, not back, to fortify these crucial movements. True solidarity means sharing the risk, not shying away.
It also needs to be stated that Inclusivity in Black-led movements means embracing all members of the community. Ignoring the needs of Black men with initiatives focused only on women, girls, queer, and trans individuals, leaves our collective pursuit of justice incomplete. It isn’t innovate; it’s leaning into the divisiveness.

(Re)sister of ahistorical or apolitical social change efforts. Let's talk about HOW and why.
"Simply moving money isn’t enough if you create unnecessary hurdles or uncertainties in the process. Organizations need long-term grant commitments that increase with the rates of inflation over time. They need unrestricted funding that allows them to adapt quickly to changing conditions. They need funding without strings attached. They need more agency over where the money goes. And they need to receive those funds in a way that doesn’t require unnecessary paperwork or grant reports that no one will read or draw lessons from." ~Hanni Hanson of the Compton Foundation#Philanthropy#MoveTheMoney
I'm excited to share in my op-ed in Inside Philanthropy how c3 funds can be deployed to support the nonpartisan, charitable programs at c4 organizations, which legally need to spend the majority of their funds on nonpartisan work. c3 funders can unlock political opportunity by funding all social change leaders for their nonpartisan work, and this will allow us to strengthen democracy and unlock durable social change. https://lnkd.in/e9b3p-ar
Kim Klein & Stephanie Roth taught me that fundraising can be an act of social change. Check out this article, in particular their advice on how to engage your donors in the section "Are you seeing a post-election surge in donations?" https://lnkd.in/g2qpWhxT
