Congratulations to Lawyers Club member Catherine A. Richardson on her appointment to serve as a Judge in the San Diego County Superior Court. Judge Richardson has served as a Commissioner at the San Diego County Superior Court since 2024. She served as a Senior Chief Deputy City Attorney at the San Diego City Attorney’s Office from 2014 to 2024 and was Senior Counsel at Klinedinst PC from 2011 to 2014. Judge Richardson served as a Deputy City Attorney at the San Diego City Attorney’s Office from 2009 to 2011 and from 1990 to1997. She was a Sole Practitioner from 2005 to 2009. She was a Partner at Thorsnes Bartolotta McGuire from 1997 to 2005 and an Associate there from 1988 to 1990. Judge Richardson earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Carlos O. Armour.

Mission: To advance the status of women in the law and society. We are a specialty bar association - our members are attorneys, judges, law students and others in the San Diego community, men and women, who share our interests and goals. The objectives and purposes of Lawyers Club are to consider and address, by all lawful means, common problems of women in the community with the overall objective of eliminating discrimination based on sex, including, without limitation: - Advancing the status of women in the law; - Supporting and improving the administration of justice; - Promoting the equality of the sexes in our society; - Empowering women to obtain jobs and to advance within the legal community commensurate with their training, experience and ability; - Promoting legislation to eliminate discrimination based upon sex and to promote equal opportunities in employment; - Supporting efforts to eliminate other forms of discrimination that may lead to gender discrimination; - Promoting the appointment and election of feminist lawyers to non-partisan appointed and elected positions; - Providing guidance to young lawyers, law students and young people; - Promoting civility in the practice of law; - Promoting more effective legal education by conducting, promoting and supporting seminars and lectures; and - Raising and distributing funds through the Corporation’s Fund for Justice.

Oh what a night! Lawyers Club held its annual Fund for Justice Celebration last night at the Westin San Diego Gaslamp. We are thrilled to celebrate the incredible work of our 2024 Fund for Justice Grantees. These eight outstanding organizations are making a powerful impact in advancing justice and equality in our community. Together, we are building a brighter, more equitable future. Congratulations to Lawyers Club member Hon. Devon L. Lomayesva, on her appointment to serve as a Judge in the San Diego County Superior Court. Judge Lomayesva has been Chief Judge at the Intertribal Court of Southern California since 2016. She has been a Sole Practitioner since 2014. Judge Lomayesva was a Pro Tem Judge at the Intertribal Court of Southern California from 2015 to 2016 and Tribal Attorney for the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians from 2013 to 2014. She was Executive Director at California Indian Legal Services from 2007 to 2012 and In-House Counsel for the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel from 2004 to 2007. She was Directing Attorney at California Indian Legal Services from 2003 to 2004 and a Staff Attorney there from 1999 to 2002. Judge Lomayesva was a Staff Attorney at the California Indian Lands Office from 2002 to 2003. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the California Western School of Law. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Harry Powazek.

Judge Jensen has been a Partner at Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP since 2008 and an Associate from 2004 to 2007. She served as a Law Clerk for the Office of the Prosecutor at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in 2003 and the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in 2002. She served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Warren J. Ferguson at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from 2001 to 2002, and was an Associate at Morrison & Foerster LLP from 2000 to 2001. Judge Jensen earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2000. She fills the vacancy created by the appointment of Judge David Rubin to the Court of Appeal.
